MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: OCTOBER 30–NOVEMBER 5, 2017!
Enjoying the last week of longer days before we fall back an hour. Celebrating Halloween at a bar (where nobody else was celebrating). Food: empanadas, tacos, cheese boards, clam chowder bread bowls, and korean fried chicken. Accompanying my little cousins to their birthday trip to Disneyland (and the Bippity Boppity Boutique), and spending time with my dad over his birthday weekend.
Enjoy!
Monday. The morning started and I worked on passing around these school picture day collages I made at Joe’s Halloween party the Saturday before. Somehow Halloween felt very over but it was actually only October 30.
I refuse to take the Halloween costumes off the dogs. I crack up everytime I look at Sufi because it looks like a skunk is holding onto his back.
Got my second half of my Hep B vaccination I got for my travels.
Home to the dogs and a face mask.
Walk into the kitchen and Tristan pours coffee all over the counter.
In the Halloween spirit we turned out little closet office into a Yayoi Kusama Infinity Room
My mom told me I had to wear this bat costume at least twice to get my money’s worth so that I did.
Flew down the hill and discovered nature.
Home with enough time to throw on the little costumes I got the dogs when I was in Chiang Mai (yes the night markets have everything)
Kiki and Ders brought witch Peanut over so we could all hang out, be mildly festive, and get photos of the dogs in their torture devices.
OH cool. Nobody at this bar is dressed up.
Well we came for the happy hour anyways.
Wednesday. Unashamed to admit that I still have all my stuff from my trip to Southeast Asia on the chair. I’ll get to it. (I think secretly putting everything away means I didn’t just come back and it’s all over…)
Utensil drawer at work never has the right utensils
Walking down the hill. I haven’t done this so consisently for a while because I’ve been carpooling (and we normally park in a different lot) but it’s nice to wind down after a long day and just walk.
Yes I even took an embarassing timer shot.
It seems by the amount of photos the walk is like 3 miles but it’s less than a mile hahah.
We’re back! After discovering how great the happy hour here was the night before we decided to come back again to see the final Dodgers game (last game in the World Series).
Went next door to a bakery right before they closed to get empanadas
As we were finishing our empanadas at the bar a taco stand started setting up. Yaaaay!
Al pastor tacos. Mmmmm. (And hate to say but Dodgers lost)
As much as I try to protect the pillows they will always find a way to sit on them.
Also finally brought in like three weeks of junk mail.
It only rained for a few hours but it was still nice.
My sweater is like a forest green and Tristan was like “oh we are matching!” Gray/green is a hard one for his colorblindness.
Tristan trying to get a photo of me in the sun (but it was too bright!!!)
Left a little early to head to USC Fisher Museum to take some photos of their Pacific Standard Time exhibition.
It was fun to walk around a college campus.
After wandering around a while we found it!
James hd Brown was born in Glendale but moved to Oaxaca later in his career.
We walked across the street to see what was on at CAAM
Had to take a shortcut through a decorative brick fence but we made it! California African American Museum.
Exhibition about the multiracial Chinese/Black community in the Caribbean and the artworks they were making.
There was another exhibition we wanted to see but we also wanted to check out the Endeavor
California Science Center! Just as I remember. Used to love coming here.
Space Shuttle Endeavor! It’s been to space 25 times.
A literal decomposing carcass where did they get that
Science Center was closing so we got outta there.
Home at last. Packed up my things, walked the dogs, and drove over to my parents house to get ready to take my little cousins to the happiest place on earth.
My mom made me an avocado and cream cheese bagel. That’s love.
First ride of the day? Splash Mountain. SO! I’m honestly so honored to be here because both little cousins had a birthday in the summer and their present was to come to Disneyland and do the Bippity Boppity Boutique and they could have gone earlier but wanted to wait for me to be able to go with them. Doesn’t that just melt your heart!??!
Younger sis not afraid of Splash Mountain at all (or Space Mountain or any rollercoaster) but was so so scared to go on Haunted Mansion.
They were such balls of energy but we had to remind them that we were attempting to make it all the way to the fireworks show (9:30pm!) which they had never seen before.
We cut through Fantasyland to get to Space Mountain
Had to ride in two separate cars but I’M SO PROUD cuz littler one put her hands up the whole ride. You can see her little hands in the pic.
Cute moment where the storm troopers encountered this little storm trooper kid was standing there. They go up to him and say, “Hey…you look familiar…”
Space lemonades with a glowing ice cube
Looking stressed ahah. They have never been on Matterhorn before, so this was a big moment. But they liked it!
Cotton candy in time to catch Mickey and the Magical Map
They collected the streamers from Mickey and the Magical Map
So! It was finally time for their big birthday special present, a visit to the Bippity Boppity Boutique. Children can come and choose a dress, choose a hairstyle, and get pampered.
This was like…their dream. They love princesses (and they wore these dresses as their Halloween costumes) so they got a chance to be Belle and Rapunzel.
They got glitter all over their hair and bodies. And had a chance to sing Disney songs and joke back and forth with the “Fairy Godmothers” who did their hair.
Don’t be fooled, we still made fart jokes while they were in costume.
Hours passed and they changed out of the dresses (“Too hard to pee in it!”) and just kept it Royal Casual.
We went again and PROOF they BOTH had their hands up for the ride
The first time they’ve seen Disney at night! Getting grumpy and tired…
Refueling with some bread bowls
Good morning! We slept over in Anaheim and had some Mickey breakfast.
I documented this whole day, but here are a few clips.
Celebrating my dad’s birthday!
One of my favorites in the breakfast rotation with my parents
My parents always split the same breakfast
Sent back to my apartment with a goody bag from mom
Zach brought me these wood puzzles from Austin
On the way to play Dungeons and Dragons (with this jug of wine we got months ago)
Starting with some coloring time
A few hours later we ordered some korean fried chicken and spicy rice cakes.
And that’s how we spent the end of the weekend. Food, wine, friends and some collective imagining…
Much love friends!
In the Halloween photos, what is Zach’s costume? Is he maleficent? Ahaha. That Infinity Room concept is so amazing, personally haven’t been! 😦 I missed out on her Singapore exhibition.
Sufi as Pikachu is too cute. And yes, night markets have everything! And I say this all the time, but really love how you capture light 🙂 & I think it’s so cute that your little cousins love you too much and waited for you! I think all your cousins love you. Lol I can’t stand kids so it would be too much of an effort for me T_T
Belated happy birthday to your Dad! 🙂

Zach wasn’t at the Halloween party! Maybe he has a doppelganger 🙂
I wish we had night markets here more frequently (or big markets that aren’t just farmer’s markets). We are missing out!

You’re making me want to go back to DisneyWorld, I hope you know. I haven’t been in at least ten years. Blech.
That is so sweet that your cousins wanted to wait until you could come with them. I’m glad y’all had such a great time! And I’ve always been so curious about Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique, like I knew what it was but I was curious as to the process. That looks like something I think anyone at that age would be super psyched about. It’s an awesome/adorable concept.
Happy birthday to your Dad! I hope he had a great one!

Hahah! I am a fan of leaving your worries behind and stressing only about what snack to eat next at least a few times a year. Go for it!

I love Sufi’s costumes. He’s the cutest.
Also adding how sweet your little cousins are that they waited for you to go to Disneyland together. 💓
