MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: NOVEMBER 6–12, 2017!
The week leading up to my first ever 10K race (taking place at Disneyland through both parks). Spending the weekend after the race on a retreat in the wilderness (with lots of chickens).
Enjoy!
Happy Monday! Apparently took no notable photos before dark. Was leaving work on Monday and noticed that they put up holiday lights.
Parked my car and heard a *boom* in the distance. I saw a plume of smoke rising and the smell of rubber in the air, so naturally I walked toward the sound. Turns out a car that was parked in the back corner of a parking lot (nobody inside) caught on fire!
It’s actually getting chilly in LA, time of the year to make even more soup!
Zach brought me these wood puzzles from Austin, I started the smaller one to get acquainted with how the pieces work.
Left our desks for once to check out the photography show
Installation views of Photography in Argentina: 1850-2010: Contradiction and Continuity. This exhibition features photographs made in Argentina that examine the complex history over 160 years to dispel the notion that Argentina is a homogenous society with a dominant European-immigrant population and no indigenous culture.
Gallery dedicated to reactions to the 2001 economic collapse in Argentina.
Our boss is at a conference this week and she left us this huge bucket of candy.
Listening to the conference through a sad live video stream…*missing out*
Walking down the hill as I caught the last of a beautiful sunset.
Messob Ethiopian food on Fairfax
Caught up with Sara over the vegetarian plate. I wish I could tell you what each thing is, but I have no idea. All super delicious though.
We bought this blanket for Sufi but Tweedy decided he wants it more.
Good morning, Suf! It’s Wednesday.
Forgot to pack a lunch so had a sad cafe lunch.
Thursday, another lovely atmospheric end to the day.
Orange from the sunset and the blue sky. *Arghhh* So beautiful.
Met up with Kiki for sushi, hanging, and a coming of age movie cuz that’s all I want!
Sushi! We sent to see Lady Bird which was so good and sweet. I appreciate a good mother/daugther/coming of age story so much.
Thursday! Working from home today.
Eczema has been really really bad this week. I complain about it too much, it’s really not a life threatening condition, just uncomfortable and gross. Shoutout to my mustache
I’m a squirrel leaving empty shells everywhere.
Heading to Anaheim to pick up our race bibs! Trying to be as cozy as possible.
Got them! My first 10K coming up on Saturday.
A few hours at California Adventure? Why not.
Tried the buffalo chicken burger with onion rings at the grill by Soaring and it’s so good! I’d get it again.
Christmas decorations are out.
We walk into the little mermaid store and Zach says “they should make a dinglehopper” and THEY DO imagineers already thought of it.
It’s cold and Zeen wants an ice cream
Strolling around looking at all the merch
Over to Disneyland now with a coffee in hand.
Jane sketching Tarzan’s naked bod
Waiting for the freshly popped popcorn
Another ultra casual casual Friday.
Tristan texted me to NOT bring a lunch because he made way too much spaghetti and wow yeah he made a fuck ton.
Even tho I don’t like how early it gets dark (usually between 5 and 5:30), we are getting extra amazing sunsets so it’s almost like mother nature feels bad for us.
Our 10K is in the morning so that only means more pasta!
Literally dressed like my mom but cozy as heck
And praise be! New episodes of Great British Bake Off on Netflix.
We ate and I tried to go to sleep as early as possible…
Got my Thor 10K shirt on and Zach’s yoda running hat ready to go.
Putting on our bibs at the parking structure
Race starts at 5am here we go!
Running in the backlot cast member area. Look! A log from Splash Mountain!
Into Disneyland through the Toon Town back entrance
I’m mostly proud because I ran the whole time (except for stopping to take photos) and I didn’t think I’d be able to!
I showered and changed and packed up to head out to the amwa retreat weekend in the mountains.
Will this kombucha restore my energy literally pooped from waking up at 3am.
Out to Lebec, California. About an hour and 30 minutes from Los Angeles.
Starting the retreat weekend with picnic lunch. We’re all out here to refresh, bond, recharge, discuss amwa’s goals, and share experiences.
It’s a beautiful cabin on a farm with dogs, cats, and chickens.
We did a drawing exercise with a partner where we drew our homes, then had to describe the drawing to a partner (who couldn’t see the drawing) and then they had to draw it.
We also had a movement workshop
Noticed that the chicken had actually left us a gift
Getting dark, time to eat! Maya prepared Northern Indian deliciousness.
Scenes from the morning before people were awake
Then back out the dirt road to the highway
I kept pulling over to take photos because it was all so amazing.
Back home still wearing my pajamas but feel cozy as heck. A few hours till I need to head out again…I mostly lounged on the computer.
Sorry for so many pics in this mirror (Shoutout to Marie for gifting it to me) but I’ve been TRYING to care more about trying new outfits and wearing more of my closet even if it doesn’t always work out.
Marielle is in town! Ramen for dinner.
And blockheads! Plus wandering around Sawtelle. Was nice to see her.
Home! I put on Great British Bake Off (duh) and started work on editing my photos from Bangkok. They will be done soon!
Much love friends.
Giiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrllllllllllllllll your fashion was on POINT in this post! I loved all of your outfits! I need that blue/white plaid top and those black and white pants in my life.
Congrats on the 10k! I decided to put that on my bucket list for next year!

Ahahahah thank you! I was going through photos and thought to myself, “geez, why did you take so many mirror pics this week” and was a little embarrassed to include them all but HERE we are! Most of my clothes are from Uniqlo or a thrift shop, there’s no in between.
The 10K was totally not bad, you can do it! I followed an 8 week training schedule and it wasn’t the worst!

Congrats on your first 10k! All the rundisney events are so much fun. Next up is your first half marathon 🙂

I’m so sad there will be no more Great British Bake Off episodes 😦 I seriously love the pacing and calmness of the show compared to American competition shows.
I still am unconvinced I can do a half marathon (I have feeble knees haha) but I think for now maybe another 10K??

Love your overalls lewk!!! Ahhhh, makes me wanna run too so bad 🙂 That basketball court on the trailer of the movie you posted looks an awful lot like your high school gym!

I’m so glad you caught that because I’m 100% sure that IS my high school gym (other parts in the movie feature a coffee shop that is always used in indie films that I also know is in my hometown).

Congrats on your race!! It looks like so much fun! That might be the only way to get me to want to run a 10k, is to have it go through all the neat parts of Disneyland! So cool!
Also — can you please make a cookbook? I want two of your recipes: the famous gyoza soup and rosemary chicken!! Pls! 😀

Thank you! Aha my two favorite things to make, they are really so easy! Maybe I can do a few recipe posts, I’m just nervous you won’t like how it actually tastes and then it is revealed I have weird taste buds haha.
Thanks for following me over from LJ! 💕

I had a writer friend who ran all the races. I wish I were in better shape and also had the money to do these things, they seem like a blast! Can’t wait to see your Bangkok pictures and as always, thanks for sharing.
