MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: MAY 15–21, 2017!
Kiki returns from the Philippines, eating at home, and a very outdoorsy weekend, hiking with doggos and going to the dog beach.
Enjoy!
Can’t stop getting pimples so that’s cool.
Leftover dim sum for lunch #blessed
Journey to the Getty Villa for a shoot
Sneaky peek behind the scenes
No bright this one
I posted this pick the week before and got a few messages from people saying they wanted to come try grilling. If you are ever in doubt and want to make new friends…get a grill ahaha.
Monday night grilling! Kept it a little more casual this time. Got all of this (since I had sesame oil, kimchi, and garlic already) for $20, for 3 of us to share. Not bad at all.
Joe brought over his Switch and the new Mario Kart is so fun! You can be the mayor from Animal Crossing!!!!
Made some pan fried tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes). I’ve had it served to me more soupy, but the pan fried version was tasty too.
Guacamole and garlic toast (why not) it’s a leftovers night haha.
Had a quiet evening, Kiki gave a quick recap of her Philippines trip, and we ate!
Wore a My Favorite Murder shirt to work and nobody said anything muahah.
*Pooof* A wild Tristan fell from the sky
Last minute Rachel was in town for a work thing and she organized a birthday dinner. I got her a few little things, but didn’t really have wrapping paper…made due.
Walked into Forma, and literally the whole room smells of cheese ahah.
Waited for everybody to arrive!
The backside of their menu is an entire cheese menu, how could we not get a cheese board.
The pastas are tossed in these cheese bowls right before they are served. Mmmm.
Being weird in the work bathroom. Really need to get my haircut but my conundrum is I feel like I’m more of a short-haired girl, but I think I look better with long hair…
Getty Digital staff bowling night, a night to showcase my terrible form and meet some new colleagues.
We escaped for a little to play some arcade games
Jurassic Park, I died quickly hah
Haven’t had Wahoo’s in a long while.
Glenn has been so active, I think since he’s finally stopped molting now he’s happy again (I hope)
Masterchef Zeen. His night to cook.
Watched the first Alien and Zach told me that the actors didn’t know that the blood effects would happen so you can see the scene here and catch the genuine shock and fear from the actors hahah. We rewatched it a few times.
Big day ahead of us, I packed us all some peanut butter toast
My favorite thing is when they touch!!!
We decided to try the Solstice Canyon hike up in Malibu, Modern Hiker gives a good history and trail guide.
Tweedy is not a good hiker, he took a break whenever he found shade
Sufi on the other hand is…SO delighted to hike
The trail ends near the ruins of a house that was built in 1952 by Paul Revere Williams and built down in 1982 unfortunately. But you can see the foundation, stairs, the kitchen, two or three fireplaces, and a bathroom with tile.
Behind the ruins is a small but charming waterfall and shaded little pool area.
Tweedy SO happy to just sit and drink water from his little cup and not walk.
Lol these goobers in the sunspot
After the hike we stopped at the grocery shop and then to Leo Carrillo State Beach which does allow dogs on leashes in a part of the leash.
Doggos so happy to be on the sand
The beach wasn’t crowded at all, I was so surprised. This particular weekend got so hot so I figured everybody in LA would head to the ocean.
I worked on a this beautiful sand fortress
But unfortunately the ocean took it back
His frickin’ hair KILLS me. Does dry nicely with sand in it hahah.
After a few hours at the beach we headed back to civilization
Never seen Sufi with so little energy
Skin went through a lot getting a little red eczema flare
Met everybody back in downtown Culver City after bathing the pups and myself
Did some grocery shopping for the morning
Sunday morning, trying to be fit and did the Culver City Stairs…a set of stairs that is so painful and tough to get up with a hiking trail down to the bottom.
Ignoring the pain in my legs by looking out at the atmospheric view
Back in the workroom, finishing up some photo editing
Been working on photos of my great Uncle’s army scrapbook. Zeen made smoothies.
The Dungeons and Dragons crew is over for “Bruncheons and Dragons.” After a minor glass shattering incident we were on track for pancakes, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns and eggs on my grill
SO HAPPY how the pancakes came out
Some extra goodies for today’s play
We hung out and played for like 9 hours omg.
I’ll end on this shot of Dan concentrating intensely on his Dungeon Master’s materials.
Much love friends.
Lol at Kiki’s pamaypay (fan)
Sufi’s ears are so adorableeeeee.

She brought me back a pamaypay too—I’m just dumb and forgot it at home. The beach was also pretty windy…next time!

That 99pi episode on Paul Revere Williams was wonderful! I keep meaning to make my dad listen to it since he’s also an architect. That’s such a shame that the house is no longer in tact – have you seen more of his stuff in LA? Or the buildings they know he worked on at least!
Maybe your ephemeral sandcastle was a tribute to the PRW ruins?
Which D&D quest are you playing? I’m about to sidle my way in to my boyfriend’s game he’s put on for his younger brother & friends. This is only the second session though, and we’re still learning the rules!

I’ve been to the Neon Museum in Vegas which is one of his buildings. And of course seen his Jetson’s style bar and lookout at the LA airport. I’d love to see more of his homes…maybe do some creepy drive-by tours for myself someday.
Omg you are right. Subconscious ephemeral tribute. 🙂
We’re playing in the Underdark—we’re on pause for now because our Dungeon Master and our wizard elf have piano things to do in other states for the summer. I don’t know specifically which quest, but I can find out! You should totally join. How it is going??

Oooo the Underdark sounds intense! I joined their game last night as a human Ranger called Crumb Bum who has lost his pet goat. He is very loosely based on Ron Swanson. I’d forgotten how quickly your imagination gets to work building the world around your character! Hopefully we’ll get to play a bit more frequently now, especially cos we figured out how to use the Roll20 site to play even if we aren’t together. It’s not quite as good as all being in the same room, but does mean the others don’t have to trek across London to get to our flat. Have you guys tried it? It might be a good way to getting to keep playing over the summer!

Crumb Bum!!! What’s your pet goat’s name? I hope you find him…
I’ve never heard of Roll20—I’ll check it out and suggest it to the crew. Is there a video chatting element or do you use the website + your phone? I guess I can just see for myself as well. 🙂
I love feeling your imagination flow and work. We were rusty when we first started playing…not even able to sort out for ourselves what to do when we got to a new space. Like. DUH don’t you want to know what it looks like? Feels like? Smells like? The world building is the best.
