MY DAYS IN PHOTOS: LONDON IN OCTOBER
Three more days in London! Full of walking, biking, cabbing, jumping, and of course eating everything in sight.
Some touristy wanderings around the city, and shots of my lovely friends. Enjoy!
#TBT
Good morning from South Kensington!
Little cuppa coffee in the hotel common room
The long-ish tube journey from South Ken to London Bridge
The Shard is a pretty new addition to the skyline. Last time I was here it was maybe like…halfway into construction. It’s. So. Tall. And maybe I’m just grumpy but it stands all alone and is kinda ugly.
But WHATEVZ. Time to sample all the cheese I’ll never afford.
First purchase – tiny quail’s eggs! With a vinegar sauce and salt and pepper. So delightful!
I wonder how much that whole hog cost.
Pumpkins in Borough Market, so festive!
Pineberries! Pineapple + strawberry! Has anybody tried these? I was tempted to grab a berry but I couldn’t bring myself to be so evil.
Mmmmm I’m all over these type faces
So much gorgeous cheese you juss wanna die
The Hunterian Museum. THANK YOU FOR THE RECOMMENDATION. Dear lordy.
The Hunterian is in the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and in 1799 the government purchased the collection of John Hunter. (Thanks wikipedia!) It’s basically a collection of all kinds of anatomical specimens, many with examples of disease or disorders to help medical professionals from his time learn from the models.
Zeen got me this special little pin.
Tate Britain! Here to see the two Turners. The Turner Prize and the JMW Turner show that the Getty’s painting is a part of.
The painting on the left is in the Getty’s collection! The show will be traveling back here in 2015. Sooo kewl.
Biking through FREAKIN’ PARLIAMENT SQUARE. We got really lost and my god it’s terrifying biking in such a busy intersection. Of course we ended up there accidentally, but dang. It’s also confusing to be on the left side of the road. But it was definitely exciting!
To sit in this infamous chairs that I always remember from Martin Parr photographs
Saying a quick hello to Albert on our way back to the hotel
❤ when people are just drinking and not looking at anything.
So much walking. My legs need a rest. I heard a tip to rest your legs above your head on the wall and try to nap like that.
Covert photo in the most ridiculous restaurant I’ve ever been in. Those eggs are TOILET STALLS. Liiiike people spend money on this shit. Kind of upsetting.
And of course I spend money on this shit
But in the morning we wandered down a little alley to find a cafe.
We hit up some markets near Brick Lane. And dear lord look at baby Zeen boy in his cute new sweater.
Brick Lane art fair was going on, so we snuck in some Chinese food from one of their booths.
Did some interviews (for a project we have yet to work on)
We managed to run over to Tower of London to try to catch the last tour of the day
GUH how gorgeous and striking are the WWI poppies
Friendly beefeater sassbucket guide. ❤
So much better than Clash of Clans
In line to see the crown jewels
They were asking people to leave and we just frantically ran around. I’ve never leisurely gone through the Tower of London. I still haven’t seen everything. Ugh.
Apparently there were polar bears here at one time. Crayballs.
Casual scaffold site in a memorial square for sailors
So excited to be meeting up with my pal Nancy at Wilton’s!
Under construction bathroom shot
It’s been 2 years since I saw her last. So happy to catch up!
AND EVEN MORE DELIGHTFUL!!!!!!
My sweet LENA! Who traveled from Paris to visit with meeee.
We all met up (with Jules too) in Covent Garden to get a pint and some fish and chips.
Witnessed the floating house! (Sorry…bad photos)
And a bit of pub hopping with these lovely dummies.
The next day (which I totally documented here)
We met up with Lena, Jules, and Marielle to eat at Portobello Market
Had way too much fun with pano
Got good use out of this little lens
But SADLY it’s our last day in London
We make the long-ass journey to Luton
And we’re on our way to Spain!
Hope these #TBT throwback kinds of posts from my trip are still fun to see alongside the more polished photographs that I’ll also be posting.
Much love friends.
