Friday, July 25, 2014!
A fully documented summer day! Woot! Here I struggle with pimples, go to work, experience some lovely California skies, question the zoo and enjoy some Thai food. All while wearing a mustard striped shirt and a bun. Enjoy!
Sufi gazes lustfully out the window. Does he have a secret lover on the street?
Tweedy is awake too. Looking pretty worried about being alive.
Okay round two. Sit up. SIT UP!
The day is lovely! It's bright, it's blue skies.
I must admit I'm pretty addicted to Clash of Clans. It's such a simple, but fun concept. And I never play for more than 5 minutes (you just can't in the game) so it's not like…a huge distraction! But yeah…I check every morning and every evening.
Coffee is done brewing. I take it outside to enjoy in the sunlight.
^____^ My first tomato plant. I've harvested 3 so far. They are a bit sour. Maybe next year I'll do a cherry tomato plant.
Squirrel mug soaking in the sunlight
I finish up my coffee and get my mind set on work mode.
I'm working from home this morning. Getting a bunch of posts drafted and ready to go for publishing over the weekend is the usual Friday grind.
E-mails. E-mails. G-mails. Re-mails. Mails. T__T
Take a break to clear off this old IKEA TV stand (that's been breaking and creaking and cracking).
Make up time. LOVING these zits I'm getting only on my forehead and chin! They are just SO FUN.
New thrifted oversized striped shirt.
Quick loop to pick up a face care product from the LUSH closest to me.
Classic LA sign. So funny to me that basically this says that you can park for four hours from 5 AM to 9 AM! That's the optimum time!
Oh 3rd Street promenade. You gotta get in and get out as fast as possible. Though, I'm VERY happy to see these mysterious large icecream cones.
At LUSH! Grabbing greased lightning, which I've heard is helpful to trouble pimples. I did learn that if you break out on your forehead and chin that it's usually an indicator of stress. *Ugh*
Typical Santa Monica mom/daughter duo.
Having my usual snack in the car on the way to the Getty
Up and up and up and finally parked.
One of the many elevators I'll ride at work
I'm typically on the computer at my desk for a majority of the work day. But today there's an event that I'm running by to take some photos of, which fun!
I get to be out in the world seeing visitors and how they are interacting with the exhibitions and site.
It's the first on-site workshop of The Chivalry Project. (It's a tumblr)
Photos will probably be processed next week.
The sky is so nice this week. It's definitely warming back up again in LA. Last week was a bit cloudy and overcast.
I'm all alone in our three person office today.
Working with an intern to produce some style photos for the Getty's Flickr page.
Mini-kitty stickers gifted to me by a colleague
Make sure the weekend looks good and everything is good to go for monday…woot!
I love that it stays sunny and lovely so late in the summer.
Can see the traffic from here.
My fresh fake flowers. WHERE are the dogs.
WHERE WERE YOU!?!?! They usually both greet me when I come home. Lazy boys.
Trying to figure out how to hang my lanterns. I have twine and tiny hooks, but they won't adhere to the ceiling. Hm.
Zach is very excited to set up his computer. Finally.
CHEERS now he's a real editor boy. He can stop using his old macbook and get it together.
Oh but have to change one thing first…
And the new TV stand is all set up too. Hooray!
Realized I forgot to eat lunch, so went for some leftover pasta.
Woo hoo! My village withstood an enemy raid.
But then as I was packing up some beers to go, I broke a bottle. Let me tell you, beer bottles truly SHATTER. I had to swiffer, vacuum and sweep a few times just to make sure to get all the pieces.
Finally got the 3 beers packed (no more broken bottles!)
Heading out to pick up Joe from work.
Some sights on the way to Hollywood
We're all together, here we go!
The mountains are looking purple and lovely
We've arrived at Griffith Park!
A lovely evening to spend $18 at the zoo. We heard about this event after joking that none of us had been to a zoo in a while. It's like food trucks, bars, DJs, dancefloors and "animal encounters". Wonder if it's worth $18
So far so good…stairs…sunset…other humans…
They sold beers and just allowed people to wander the zoo. Most of the zoo was dark and unattended. They must really trust their visitors. It was kind of scary to be in the darkest, unlit parts.
Indoor glass cases for snakes, lizards, spiders and more.
That little dark triangle blob in the middle is a gorilla. There were maybe 6 gorillas in this enclosure and many many people's shadows looming into their space.
Poor elephants had to listen to the shitty DJ music ALL NIGHT and chill in this little fenced in enclosure. No grass or stimulation? Maybe there's another area for that?
Parts of the zoo were so dark that people would just wander with flashlights. Many of the animal enclosures were darkened.
Strange evening. Strange evening.
10 PM, lights out (well, most lights were out already).
Trust Thai Patio. Marie brought me here for the first time when she lived out in Silverlake for a summer.
I forgot what chicken dish we got…but we also had a hot pot which was so tasty over rice. And of course "drunken" noodles.
Turn faucet on with camera in hand. So dumb.
And then to bed. Goodnight, world!
Much love friends.
