MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JULY 7 – 13
A week of visiting friends, tea time, broken glass, a bloody nose, time with nature, and of course dogs.
Lots going on and less sleep than usual, but it's fun RIGHT?!?!?!?! Enjoy!
I wore my hair down for once. Received many remarks about my haircut. I guess I really don't wear it down that often. I'd like it to be shorter…but the stray hairs on the back of my neck are so miserable in the summer.
Convergences at the Getty Center! If you're in LA, you should pop over to see a few of the summer shows. 🙂
Mr. Charlie! This half-pug was so cuuuuuuuuuute. He's just a puppy! Gabby was pet-sitting.
So naturally we took the pups to the dog park.
SUFI never socializes with other dogs. He just runs around and gets pet by all the people. *sigh*
Time for a clean up party. Mad scrub down.
The view from the Hollywood Hills! Not bad! Just another reminder of how flat LA is.
This restaurant has a little Japanese garden you can walk through. Met a calico cat.
Can't match patterns. And my shoes are literally always covered in dog hair. But I tried. Love my granny flower jacket.
No idea where he learned that.
My mom and I went to Goodwill. I've been itching for a few new items. I ultimately got a dress, 2 tops, a skirt, and a jacket for $24! Noooot bad. Should have taken a photo of everything together.
My mom wanted to check out the Paseo, which is just a huge shopping center in Pasadena. If you were a cool kid growing up (I was not), you'd probably hang at the Paseo.
Shoes on clearance that could either be … worn by ladies on a yacht or potentially cute?
And while by home, you must eat too much garlic at the Boiling Crab.
Blockheads! So thrilled they opened one right across the street from the Boiling Crab. It's like shaved "snow" or icecream. Lighter in texture than icecream, but creamier than shaved ice.
Weird face but in one of my new shirts! It looks like a rice pattern.
Cones waiting for the elevator
This wall always reminds me of my south pas home
Ghostin. I always wear this huge backpack around when I go to the gym and I'm sure everybody thinks I'm really unprofessional. I just have stinky gym clothes! Why would I throw them in a huge bag!
Gabby is waiting for me at the top of my steps.
These weekly photos always remind me that the Santa stocking Gabby gave me for Christmas is still up
Making spicy italian pasta for the girls
Woke up with a bloody nose. Haven't had one in so long…maybe it's the fan constantly blasting on my face.
Tweedy sleeps in longer than I do
Somebody left an embarrassing mess on the side of the road
Had to get in the car through the back right side. I blame both of us.
At the pet store near me grabbing treats for the pups and I NOTICE THE KITTENS. I DIDN'T KNOW THEY HAD KITTENS HERE.
And right next to the pet shop is a delicious deli. Got to have the matzo ball soup.
I make my way over to Hollywood for some quality time with Alan, Alyssa, Bryan, Joe, Marie, and Lenore. Alyssa and Lenore were visiting for the weekend.
The next morning I wake up eeeaaarllyy (for me) around 6:15 so I can be out the door by 6:30. BUT DRAMA. I broke the coffee pot *nooooooooooooooo*
Though the excitement over my new hiking backpack (equipped with a water pack and straw) is enough to motivate me.
I have some builder's tea instead.
I grab Kiki by 7, and we're off to Malibu. About 45 minutes later we're on the trail on the way to Escondido Falls.
I recommend this hike to anybody who doesn't want an uphill battle. It's shady and quiet, and doesn't really do anything crazy.
There's two waterfalls (normally). Here's the first one. Well. Here's where it SHOULD be. From here the hike does get rigorous. But the path is short to the next fall. You just have to rock climb and hold on to ropes to help you up the trail.
Gorgeous views of the mountains!
And here's the second falls. 😦 It's normally gorgeous and mossy and green, but here it is all dried out. STUPID DROUGHT. I hope it doesn't fall apart too much.
I'm an embarrassing person I guess.
You can hike up into the first little "mouth". I recommend getting to this trail around 7:45, by the time you're out it'll be like…9:45/10. And lemme tell you, people will be POURING in.
We really wanted fish tacos after the hike, but the place didn't open til 10:30. We stopped off at El Matador beach to check out the rocks.
Awkward photoshoots. I JUST WANTED TO CLIMB ROCKS not witness this mess.
Neptune's Net! It's a pretty famous spot. I totally remember coming here senior year of high school when my friends and I did OSS (Outdoor Science School) and we were cabin leaders for 5th graders. We had an afternoon off and all ate here. So weird to be back!
I got fish tacos (comes with 3!) and Kiki got fish and chips. Very tasty.
I changed out my shower curtain to this grey patterned one. I like it.
My little tomato plant is still growing strong! The tomatoes are turning orange in color now.
And I HAD TO BUY $1.50 FLIPFLOPS FROM TARGET cause my awesome ones I got from palm springs are falling apart. NOOOO.
By the afternoon I was so exhausted I fell asleep outside on the bench. Ugh. So dazed and confused.
Finally got around to putting up curtains in the work room.
And then I got dressed, put on new shirt #2 and headed to meet up with Alyssa!
We all met up at this sushi place that does happy hour ALL the time. How do they profit from this?
Gold wall paper in the bathroom
Back to Alan's place where gin and tonics and dancing to Beyonce were on the menu.
Walking to a bar in West Hollywood is always fun
The peeps minus James. Love commandeering a table. I was a pooper and left shortly after. *Sleeepy*
Sunday morning was a lounge fest in the morning
Headed to Little Tokyo to watch the World Cup finals AND do brunch at the same time.
Mimosas and soccer (futbol, football, etc.)
Alan doesn't notice that Germany just won
Lots of peeps in what is actually not too huge a of a space
Bye Alyssa! Have a great time abroad in Spain. You teach that english.
I scurry to the market. Always have to have my snacks for work.
If I ever have a place with a raised ceiling. I'm going to do a full lamp display.
Shrimp chips for the car ride home…and then a looooong night of relaxing.
Much love friends.
