My Week in Photos: June 30 – July 7
Battling off a cold while attempting to do it all in a 3-day weekend. Marathoning shows, seeing friends, throwing good ol' fashioned beer pong parties, painting cards, meeting babies, and finding Gollum. Enjoy!
Woke up on Monday morning feeling horrible. Went to work anyways. The giant American flag blanket arrived in the post that we were going to use in a project. We decided against using it, but it kept me cozy and warm as I suffered through the morning.
Went home early and fell asleep with the pups by my side.
Tweedy, the guardian
Tuesday morning I went in late after spending the morning resting in bed.
Took some photos in prep for the 4th of July
Cafe selling bento boxes! Heyo!
Still feeling weird. But like a living human now!
Editing photos of food at work is always great.
June Gloom is very real (though now technically July!)
Wednesday morning the pups knew it was their day for a haircut!
Made a few thank you notes.
Finally got around to putting my watercolors and prints in frames. REAL FRAMES GUH!
Joe also had the day off, and he came over to do very important marathoning of 24. Wearing pizza socks.
So naturally we ordered pizza. This is like my first real food for the week! Probably not a good choice. My stomach was upset for the next 3 days.
Tweedy and Sufi with fresh summer haircuts!
Tweedy next to my pile of tissues. Sigh.
Beep boop. Beep boop. Beep boop.
Hung up something in the bathroom finally!
Getty spaceship. We got to leave a bit early on Thursday, as Friday was the 4th of July. Aka Independence Day.
No Face Kiki at the Alibi Room. Delicious cocktails and korean-style street food is always great. Yummmm.
Continued the night with Joe at a bar that played this infomercial for a cat arch. Looks legit.
Buying ping pong balls and stationary. (It's the 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!)
Gotta kick it off with friends and hot cheetos.
My aunt said she wanted a dozen of the card design I posted on Instagram. I tried to re-create. Working on spacing.
Garage style
Zach's moped turned up for the party
And James!!!!
(And grillin' fixins!)
Delicious burger with avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion. A tomato and mozzarella salad. And jalapeno chips! Ah yes.
Lemon drop and margarita jello shot slices!
Hanging out with beer in a garage…I feel like it's the American thing to do.
Enhanced by a projection of Mario Kart.
Then it was time to hit up the family party! Lil' cuz exploring a tent for the first time. Adorable.
Another new cousin! 🙂
I feel so lucky to have a large, loving family.
Watched the most intense and close fireworks show ever! Usually I watch from the water tower near my house, but this time I went to sit outside the high school where they launch the fireworks from. It's SO LOUD and looks like it's raining fireworks. Beautiful. Really a sensory shock! In a good way.
Little cousins having a hard time with the noise.
The next morning I needed a bit of exercise and detox. I hadn't gone to the gym all week because of my cold, so…obviously rigorous hiking was the way to go.
I googled a trail that led to a place called "The Grotto" in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The path in was downhill. A winding partially shaded path with lovely views of the mountains around. (That was a sign…if you walk downhill to start, you're gonna have to walk uphill to get out…)
The trail one way was about 3.5 miles, and that included mild rock climbing.
The instructions I found to locate the Grotto were pretty mysterious. "Once you seem to hit a dead end at a river, cross and follow down stream. If you see big rocks, look down below, you should see a cave."
Was a very beautiful place! Would be even more spectacular with more water. Stupid California drought.
Standing on a rock in a little pool in the cave/grotto.
I must say the hike out was VERY hard for me. Not enough water. Too hot. Bad lungs. But we made it! And had these glorious ocean views down PCH to enjoy on our way back to LA.
Back in South Pas for a family friend's party
Reunited with Lauren! Who made this awesome sangria. I love that she's old enough to drink now. 🙂
Then headed over to the Autry, for another outdoor screening and band/food truck event. This time it was Jaws! Just so happened that this day, that morning, there was a shark attack in Manhattan Beach. (The guy is okay!)
Ralphie! Half pug, half jack russell.
The next morning met up with family.
My cousins' lamb aka dog named Max
They are so big now!!!!!!!!!! I feel like it's been years since I saw them. Nuts. Olivia graduated high school!
I got home and wasted away on the couch and finished 5 episodes of Game of Thrones. My. Heart. My. Eyes. Ouch.
Post-popsicle and post-cry. Tough night for us all.
Getting the guts to work with some clay.
Much love friends.
