My Week in Photos: April 28 – May 4
I leave the land and take to the water on this family cruise up to Canada. A family journey turned into exhausting trip turned into heart-warming adventure. Enjoy!
Starting off the Monday with new thrifted shoes and neighborhood kid chalk scribblings
Today is the official office move day. And I feel like no moving montage is complete without a shot of a plant relocation.
NO MORE COMPUTER.
Chicken and veggies, can't get that fancy
I got the urge to re-arrange my living room. I've wanted to start a garden of sorts (a little one!) on my porch, but it was hard to access. Now the window has it's own space!
This week I'll be spending it on a boat and in Canada with my family members. I'm going on a family adventure with my parents, auntie, uncle, other auntie and uncle, cousins, cousins' kids…a party. Gotta get some film before we depart!
My dad's face for everything. Always stressed.
Room on a boat. Full of mirrors when you lack a window.
Enjoying the fresh air before the boat sets sail!
This was my second time on a cruise ship. The first time I was much younger, and I really don't remember much. My family is lucky and we have a relative that works for a cruise line that offers great deals, especially for families.
Last of the human landmarks in the open ocean
So it's true that on cruises that there is food everywhere. And it's paid for in the price of the cruise (at least ours was) and so you could order anything off the menu. We were told many people order two or three entrees…so nuts! Such over consumption.
Dad in fancy clothes for dinner
There was also a casino on board! A WHOLE casino. This was one slot machine I giggled at.
It was great to spend time with the lil' cousins.
Of course you have to play bingo!
A view of ONE of the swimming pools. T___T SO MANY POOLS. Crazy.
Melon margarita…LOOK. HOW. BIG. O_____o Everything is supersized. My mom helped me out.
My mom and I kicked my dad's butt! Heck yaaaah. (We're playing shuffleboard.) My dad says they have this game on cruises because you could hold a drink in your other hand while playing.
I tried to walk around the boat a bit. There was one level that went all the way around. 2.5 laps was the equivalent of 1 mile.
My favorite folks! The whale watchers and ocean photographers.
Where do you get fresh seafood? In the middle of the ocean!
There was a huge screen that played movies into the evening. You could watch and have free popcorn and cookies and icecream. Pretty ridiculous but very cozy.
But the sunsets! All so lovely.
Scary night club picture. Yeah. A NIGHTCLUB. Kind of. Perhaps the most loose definition of a hip, dancing place…but it was there! Had to visit and fulfill my curiosity.
Woke up really early on the last day to catch sunrise before arriving to port in Vancouver, Canada
The mountains in the distance look like Totoro is hiding back there, waiting to pop out.
Dragging our suitcases downtown
MORE AMAZING WINDOW DISPLAY FOOD
I guess fossils this big are not usually so brightly colored, but they are in the region.
Our first poutine experience. Dad is there to catch the action.
Finally back to the hotel!
Suspension bridge! My mom was so nervous, but she did it!
For some reason this view reminded me of Tokyo
Pretty park near Granville Island
A market that offered two nerds flavors that I've never seen!
Mama really excited about our oysters!
I really enjoyed the new snacks at the 7/11. PICKLE?!??!!?
Bridge sunset shot
Tree with lots of little middle fingers, flippin' us off
Last full day! Took a ferry to Victoria and then to Butchart Gardens
but before sight seeing, we must enjoy our yellow food groupings.
O_____O Butchart Garden's sunken garden. So…beautiful. So many tulips.
Garden shots!
"Where do we look? Where do we photograph?"
Mama-san being careful in the Japanese garden
I felt obligated and inspired to get a few packages of seeds from ButchArt.
Vancouver was very rainy until we left basically
What I have at home with me now!
Got new headhones! Look how cute.
We get a fun acapella rendition of Let it Go from Frozen
My creepy photo of Sarah Chalke (from Scrubs) who was on my plane
And we're finally home! 😦 😦 But it's so great to see the animals!
Finally all back home and settled down. And got a card from Rachel for my belated b-day! SO KIND.
Much love friends.
