My Week in Photos: April 14 – 21
Marie’s birthday, my attempts at baking, disco balls and a quick, weird and awesome road trip up to Napa.
This week has garlic, friends, and winged dancing…enjoy!
(Still working on the hard drive sitch – sorry about the delay in Arizona photos…sigh)
Fruit and bagels in the office kitchen! What a Monday treat.
Lunchtime runtime. My legs are really sunburned from the beach, my skin felt so weird. Not used to sunburns. *complaining done*
SUNBURN ON NOSE TOO *sigh* okay complaining officially over.
My ma texted me an adorable Tubby photo that I couldn’t resist sharing.
It’s Marie’s b-day and I wanted to make her matcha cookies, so I stopped at Ralphs on the way home. I thought I should be stopping at the Japanese market, but the traffic was so terrible I gambled that Ralphs would have it all. They didn’t 😦
Will I have to drive back through traffic to the Japanese Market?
After a quick yelp search (not sure why I didn’t immediately think to do that), I found a market closer to me in the opposite direction of the traffic!! Eeeek!). Found my matcha powder!
I had to buy many baking ingredients, as I’m not a huge baker. Anybody want to suggest any recipes that aren’t too sweet? Maybe I should get into baking to bring treats to work…hmm.
Finished cookies!
Marie doing work on her birthday. Classsssic.
Shin Sen Gumi and giving her a taste of her cheek-squeezing obsession.
Does this mean she likes it??
Alyssa’s back in town for a few days! Double hug action.
WHOOPS horrrible photo but there was a blood moon that folks were admiring
Got to work from the Villa on Tuesday and document some cool happenings in their imaging studio.
Villa charm
Riding the tram down, and eavesdropping on visitor conversations as usual
GIANT bowl of ravioli with broccoli and GARLIC MUSHROOMs. Gahhhh.
Gathered here for a game night, it’s been a while!
We played Flash Point, a game where you work together as a team to rescue victims from a house fire. We lost… 😦
Gabby KILLIN’ it. So much happening in this photo.
What’s that suspicious face? We’re playing Clue.
Glitchy panorama for some major clean up
I feel like it’s useless to sweep up dog hair. It regenerates constantly.
“I think I have my mouth open in all photos you take of me”
Cantaloupe mint smoothies round 2
Avocado toast with garlic and butter spread underneath + Game of Thrones marathon.
I managed to buy bread that falls apart upon being toasted, but I don’t mind. Easier to dip in the yolk.
Bumped into this cone meet up on my way into the office
On my way to interview a curator for a piece
The GRI exhibition is closed, but the lovely wall mural is still there (for now)
These fuzzy doods get dropped off at their groomers.
I still think I have short hair and don’t own a hairbrush currently. Need to change this.
But does that mean saying goodbye to the bun?
Another view of the rainbow in Sony Studios
My hair will never seem this straight again…blow out city
Cup o’ udon and Game of Thrones marathon continues
That evening Marie and I hopped in the car with Zach and we started our slow drive up to Napa Valley
It’s about 2 AM and we’re still 2 hours out. For some reason we’re being stopped with a few other cars. Poor Zach is exhausted from driving.
We’re meeting up with friends and new acquaintances at Isis Oasis, an Egyptian themed retreat that offers housing. We arrived the night before around 4:30 AM, so we slipped into our little mattresses without a thought of what the room looked like. But in the morning light…it’s…so….amazing. Here’s their website, you can see in the slideshow the room where folks are doing yoga is where we all slept.
They had an exotic bird and cat sanctuary out back. Waking up to turkey gobbles was hilarious and great.
ALPACA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It wouldn’t let me touch it sigh.
Culturally appropriative camp grounds
Who manufacturers these cheap fake relics?? I just wonder if there’s a huge industry for this.
After exploring the site, we wander to find some breakfast.
And then back again. Found some goats!
And then it was time for the main event, the Francis Ford Coppola winery. Aka Disneyland.
They have a museum with his oscars and other movie memorabilia (including the desk from the Godfather)
Just wandered around…you could never pay for a tasting and just chill at this weird resort/vineyard
Friends all together! What a treat!
This is Marie’s photo but it’s like friend entourage so I had to steal it. Yeah I was having a mojito at a winery. I’m bad at this.
Marie killin’ it at bocce ball
Definitely a weird place, but we had a great time.
Back at the Oasis we found these wings/capes and lost our minds a little
On the floor, music playing, friends chatting and laughing, disco ball ambiance, eating sachertorte from Vienna. To me this moment felt a very good time to be 23. I guess I feel okay moving on to 24 in a few days.
We had to leave at 6:30 AM in the morning to be back in time for my Easter things with family.
One of my many weaknesses are the roadside farm pop-up shops
Also a sucker for hand painted mural
EEK! 🙂 So tasty. We got some honey sticks to drizzle on top. Amazing.
Yay! Finally am a “king” in Waze, my gps app. So dumb, but it’s cute!
Rest stop that got really into Easter
Back to LA with this iconic view
I quickly whipped up this watermelon and feta salad. You just add some sunflower seeds, vinaigrette and serve!
Not quite warm enough for pool time!
We get a performance of “Let it go”
Gotta go home and kiss the kitties
And ending the week with another GoT….(I CAUGHT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Sorry about this week’s delay…
Much love friends.
