MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JANUARY 14–20, 2019!
After returning from our Disney World vacation, I settle into my new desk at work, grow a chia pet, catch a cold, play quite a few board games, and host Korean grill night (twice).
Enjoy!
We took our leftovers from the Mexican restaurant the night before back to the hotel. But when I took them out of the fridge they were somehow frozen (I guess that fridge worked overtime) but we ate what we could.
Time to fly home. Spent last week being a kid, saying yes to our every whims, and now back to real life…
If you missed our trip to Disneyworld, you can see it all in these four parts:
Part 1: HARRY POTTER WORLD
Part 2: HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS AND MAGIC KINGDOM
Part 3: ANIMAL KINGDOM
Part 4: WALT DISNEY WORLD MARATHON AND EPCOT
Home to the dogs, and home to a rainy Los Angeles. I heard from friends while we were gone that it was raining a lot…but yeah….rain!
Our final naughty choice, dinner at Boiling Crab
Tuesday! My first day truly using my new work station. Before I left for Orlando, I had moved all my crap up here in bags but didn’t bother to organize anything.
Unpacked the most important shelf first
A few years ago for the office secret santa I was given this Ninja Turtle chia pet, I never could use it at work because we worked in a basement with no windows. I knew I saved this for a reason.
Seeds looking a little too thick (the instructions did warn me not to spread the seeds too thick on the ridges of the back…oops)
Dramatic rainy view from our window
My new view of the top of Tristan’s head
Heading out in this rain to acupuncture
Still working through this adult acne on all fronts.
Roasted salmon and asparagus, and soup for the week. Thank you, chef Zeen
Had our soup and played a few rounds of Patchwork. You both compete to put together the most beautiful quilt.
Using my new bento that I got at the Japan Epcot pavilion
My cute lunch makes me more excited to eat it
Rainy drive home, and then took a rainy metro ride to Staples Center so Zach could reunite with his team, the Jazz.
Indoor fireworks went off and filled the stadium with this hazy air. Is that good for the players?
Cooked up some of the gyoza that my mom and I made when we were together over the holidays
Developed a gross cough but didn’t feel bad enough to stay home, so decided to power through the work day with a mask on. Freaked a few coworkers out, but hey better than getting them sick.
The rain has finally cleared, it’s beautiful!
My chia pet is…well still getting the strength to grow.
Zach did a run to the Korean Market so we could host a Korean grill night as a thank you to the friends who helped take care of the dogs.
It was also our first grill in the new place at a real table, pretty exciting stuff.
Is there some lamb on the menu
Played a round of Cosmic Encounter where you are all different alien races with unique powers trying to invade each other’s planets.
Woke up the next day and felt worse in the illness department. I spent most of the morning in bed trying to sleep, but feeling a mix of nauseous and feverish until I finally had energy to try to take a bath.
I even used a cute Christmas bath comb. But, alas. The water never got hot. 😦
*Sick eyes* Getting back in bed.
Back in bed, Zach brought in this painting that his mom used to have hung up at their old house in Dana Point. He just discovered it is among the artwork that was wrapped up ahha.
Zach ordered some matzo ball soup for dinner.
Zach spent a while on my sick day going through and unwrapping all the artwork and posters so we could evaluate what to hang and where.
Took a stab just resting things in some spaces, we’ll see what sticks.
Sunday afternoon, we had a game day on the books.
It was a full moon, Kiki led is through a tarot card pull. I pulled “the sun”
Then we moved to try a new game called Ethnos, which realized toward the end that we were playing just a little bit wrong.
Trying this spicy cheese ramen, whipped up a few packets for everybody to eat while I got the leftover Korean grill stuff ready.
Also made a pretty good kimchi fried rice, gotta try that recipe again that was satisfying. Thanks for eating my leftovers, friends!
At the end of the night, Zach stumbled across Coyote Peterson’s YouTube Channel called “Brave Wildernesss.” He’s got 14 million subscribers, and a hugely popular series he does is animal stings and bites. Including one about this centipede. Got to take a deep dive…
I’ll leave you here! Hope you’re having a great week!

Some questions that you may or may not feel inclined to answer? So! Let’s do it. I invite you to answer in the comments:
- Are you a board game fan? What’s one you’ve recently tried and enjoyed?
- What’s your ideal Saturday afternoon activity?
- Would you rather be stung by a centipede or a bullet ant? (Yes, he has a video on that too)

I recommend Patchwork! If you need a fun, simple, and easy to learn two player game, this one is competitive but also cute. - What’s your ideal Saturday afternoon activity?
We’ve had a lot of rain, so I’ve been thinking of doing a picnic in the park to take advantage of actually green spaces. - Would you rather be stung by a centipede or a bullet ant? (Yes, he has a video on that too)
Bullet ant. Not sure why, but things with too many legs or not enough (slugs, worms, etc.) are…not my favorite.

Thank you for reading! Much love friends.
Wohay! Glad to see some new posts! I just love Day/week in the Life posts. Unfortunately for you, many of the communities seem to have died, so I depend on you 100% for my weekly DITL fix ahahaha.
Are you a board game fan? What’s one you’ve recently tried and enjoyed?
Mmmm… Not particularly but I’ve recently moved to a new country and my fiance’s work place hosts a board game evening once a month, so I’ve come to really like it because it means I get a chance to hang out with new people! I find learning all the new rules quite frustrating with more intricate board games. Some of them also go on for way too long xD I can’t remember the names of any that we have played, so that pretty much sums up my experience lol
What’s your ideal Saturday afternoon activity?
A really nice late breakfast/brunch and then a stroll around town. I also love editing photographs, so I’d then like to come back home and have some new shots from a recent shoot to work on!
Would you rather be stung by a centipede or a bullet ant?
Maybe a centipede. I know nothing about stings from either but the bullet ant sounds scarier!

Hahah, well I am more than happy to provide that DITL fix for ya. Appreciate that you can tolerate looooong posts of 100+ photos, my things can be long…sometimes not super interesting…
Glad to hear you are attempting to tolerate board games! There are some fun games that are more about the social aspect of the game and less about the rules (like Werewolf, Skulls and Roses, etc.) that are more like discussion games. Perhaps those will work out for you!

I’m reading your posts out of order (I’m woefully behind, forgive me), so seeing your chia pet all grown in one post and then it struggling in this one is funny!
Are you a board game fan? What’s one you’ve recently tried and enjoyed?
– I love all board games, and we’re doing the huge Pandemic…eventually.
What’s your ideal Saturday afternoon activity?
– Playing D&D with friends into the very late night!
Would you rather be stung by a centipede or a bullet ant?
– Centipede. It hurts less.
