MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: AUGUST 20–26, 2018! (SMOOTHIES WITH SEA LIONS & DISNEYLAND’S POULTRY PALACE)
Thai food, short film screening at Echo Park Film Center, supporting “An Emmy for Megan,” smoothies with sea lions, and a day at Disneyland trying all the new Pixar foods.
Enjoy!
Monday morning—I checked up on some photos I was uploading overnight. All worked out!
Running clothes. I should probably get new running shoes, these have been with me for a few years now. How frequently are you supposed to replace running shoes?
It’s a good day when you see deer on the hillside on the way into the office.
Afternoon stroll in the gardens
Since perfecting this buffalo wings recipe at home we haven’t eaten wings from a delivery place, pretty proud of that even if we have been eating more wings than usual because it’s easier to make at home.
Pottery studio night. I picked up this little matching sake cup (it matches the plates I finished last week).
Four pound bowl! The biggest piece I’ve thrown so far—it’s a little wonky but I’m pretty pleased with it.
Can’t stop with the face masking
Because I usually pack my clothes in the morning when I’m all groggy, sometimes I make bad choices. Today I packed the same color shirt as my jacket. It’s a look.
Attempting a Thai flavored soup for dinner.
Shrimp, lemon grass, lime, cilantro, mushroom, tomato, thai chili, chili garlic sauce, fish sauce…came out yummy!
Wednesday—decided to run around the Getty campus instead of in the gym.
Lunch, leftovers and a fuck ton of watermelon.
Went to the gift shop to purchase some gifts for my cousins’ birthdays. So many fun things that I wanted for myself.
If Freddy Kreuger decided to become a painter
It’s night one of amwa’s program of short films at Echo Park Film Center.
yay yunyu and chisa! They organized the film series—I just helped with promotion and stuff on the amwa backend.
Kiki came out to support and watch the films. Then we went around the corner to eat some Thai food at Sticky Rice.
We shared a coconut, some pork larb, khao soi curry noodle soup, and some grilled marinated beef.
When I leave the bed in the mornings the dogs settle in…
Arclight Hollywood, turns out we were there the same night as the Ozark premiere.
We don’t care about Ozark, we are here for the “An Emmy for Megan” screening.
As we waited to pay for parking this flashed at my through the window. *Sigh*
Good morning, started my off Friday with a face mask.
And actually went outside with my forehead exposed *shock*
Ended up in Marina Del Rey and found myself a mango smoothie. “This is NOT a fast food establishment! Everyone is in a hurry. Once we process your order, there are NO REFUNDS!”
Walked with my mango smoothie down the marina and found myself alone with a group of four playful sea lions.
I stood there for way too long just watching them play. It was very sweet.
On my way home I caught this little guy in a bike basket. I need a bike basket to put Tweedy and Sufi in…good idea.
Tristan is making dinner tonight and requested I bring over some parmesan cheese…his wish is my command.
Pasta with a side of “Sweetener”
Afterwards we walked to play some darts at a nearby bar before heading out to meet some of Kiki’s friends.
I documented this whole day, so that is coming soon!
She asked me to curl her hair but she looked worried the whole time.
Sunday! Our Disneyland annual passes aren’t blacked out for the summer peak anymore, so Zach wanted to check out Pixar Pier since he hadn’t seen it yet.
Took the opportunity to try some of the new food options on Pixar Pier
We tried the spicy hot dog with sriracha ketchup plus the drumstick box from the Poultry Palace.
The smiley face with all the eyes!
Watched Bao again, and two other shorts.
Enjoying the sun, enjoying a beer and enjoying the single rider line for Radiator Springs.
Waiting in line for the new Lamplight Lounge and I noticed the details of the silhouettes of Pixar characters on the shade! So cute.
Zach loves a colorful cocktail and not rubbing in his sunscreen.
We also split a burger, very yum.
It was a 45 minute wait between 3 and 4pm, not too bad. It’s still pretty new.
Leaving with a free coaster and a tsum tsum of Mike in his little Monsters U cap.
We spent a good amount of time with a crowd of people all watching folks go through the Grizzly Bear rapids ride. Everybody would shout and scream whenever the poor people on the ride were surprised by the huge geyser of water. Highly recommend.
We went over to Disneyland to enjoy a few rides before calling it a day.
Afterwards we went on Pirates and then Zach got a mint julep and I got a coffee.
Snow White is one of the only rides my little cousin will NOT ride because she thinks it is way too scary. I agree. It’s pretty friggin’ scary.
It’s getting dark so we decided to head home and not stay crazy late.
I hope you’ve had a great week. Time for a new batch of questions I’ve dug up from old Livejournal surveys, these ones are from 5000questionsur posted in 2005. Answer if you’d like!

- What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
- Which is worse…losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights
- Which do you remember the longest: what other people say, what other people do or how other people make you feel?
- What Disney villain are you the most like and why?

- What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
I’m happiest when I feel useful to other people. I prefer to be in bed by 10 but invite me out anyways. And I’m very sensitive. - Which is worse…losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
Luggage!!!! Untangling can be like a meditative process if you aren’t in a rush… - Which do you remember the longest: what other people say, what other people do or how other people make you feel?
How others make me feel. I’m trying to be better about holding onto grudges. Sometimes I catch myself thinking, “I am mad at that person but I can’t remember why?” which is not the best way to live your life. - What Disney villain are you the most like and why?
My brain went first to Yzma from Emperor’s New Groove (she’s weird, is into magic, and hates a cocky incompetent leader who has no ambition…) but then I decided to let a good ol’ internet quiz solve this for me. I got Ursula.

Much love friends!
It took me two days to read this! But of course I love all the food. What broth did you use in the Thai flavours soup?
What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?
– I’m actually an introvert, I can be trusted with anything, I am a good gift giver.
Which is worse…losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
– Definitely lost luggage!
Which do you remember the longest: what other people say, what other people do or how other people make you feel?
– All three actually…
What Disney villain are you the most like and why?
– I got Scar. I’m ambitious, this is true.

I just used water, but I read online some recipes can have chicken broth instead. It was really a light spicy flavor, tangy from the lime and lemon grass…and it got more flavorful over the time the leftovers spent time in my fridge!
