MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JULY 2โ8, 2018! (FOURTH OF JULY, FIREWORKS, LOS ANGELES HEAT WAVE)
There’s a heatwave in Los Angeles, just in time for the 4th of July. I spend the week with family and friends trying to find as many air-conditioned spaces as possible.
Enjoy!
Monday morning run slash Pokemon hunt.
Showered and ready for work. It’s the week of the 4th of July which falls this year on a Wednesday. There were quite a few colleagues out of the office all week, so it was kind of a weird work week schedule wise.
Tuesday! Working from home today since nobody from my team was in the office.
Used my handmade mug for coffee, feeling very proud.
I took Glenn out of his cage to give it a clean and we went up to the food bottle cap and rested his hand there. It was too much.
After work Tuesday I decided to head to South Pasadena to stay overnight because I was going to be with my family all day on the 4th of July. I wanted to take the metro there, so I attempted to Bird to the metro station from my apartment. Do you have these scooters in your city? They are essentially shared scooters that you can check out and ride using an app. When you are done, you just leave it where you want and the next person can use it after you. A lot of people think they are a nuisance, but hey…I think whatever gets people out of cars and attempting public transportation is a small win for LA.
Made it successfully to the metro!
Home and already photographing Snow in a box.
My dad has a special vacuum just for Snow’s cardboard box damage. Loves to sit in the box and chew pieces off and leave them on the floor.
Tubby and I watch as my mom cooks dinner.
Steamed ginger and soy sauce fish and rosemary chicken. Heaven!
Happy 4th of July. It’s the tradition to go to the pancake breakfast at the fire station so I went with my little cousins.
Got home and watched the WHOLE SEASON OF KILLING EVE which I HIGHLY recommend. I seriously enjoyed it.
I emerged after watching the whole series in time to help my parents load up the car for the family bbq.
My cousin’s chinchilla, Willie.
Char brought a bunch of ingredients to have a build your own boba tea drink station.
Yessss so delicious. I had a peach green tea and it was excellent.
Chili on rice with a hotdog on top? Why not.
Barkley the three-legged pup is a hit
Walked into Blake’s room to see the chinchilla
Getting dark, so it’s time to get set up for fireworks viewing
All set up on the sidewalk across from a fireworks show.
Happy 4th! It’s a complex time to be an American, and while I’ve never felt overly patriotic it’s hard to feel patriotic at all these days. But I am happy to have the opportunities I’ve had and love my family and friends so I guess that’s enough to celebrate.
The next day we went out to the Hollywood Bowl to see Harry Pottery and the Goblet of Fire with a live orchestra! Happy Birthday to Kate.
If you know anybody in LA, you know that last week we were all complaining about this heatwave. One day it was the hottest place ON EARTH. In parts of the county it was 120 degrees Fahrenheit, nearly 49 degrees Celsius.
The only reason I was surviving was by going into the office and enjoying the air conditioning at work.
Made a Wholefoods run and picked out a few random things for dinner on Friday.
Later went out with James and Dan and on our way to a friend’s house party we had to stop and wait for like 45 minutes for these amazing shaved ice.
Mango flavored ice in a cantaloupe!
Pottery inspiration at the Marciano Art Foundation! I’m getting too big for my britches, I keep seeing things I like and want to make at my weekly pottery studio, but I’m not good enough to actually accomplish things that I want to make. I just have to go where the clay takes me, but I still take these inspo pics.
Alyssa is in town for a few days! We visited the Marciano together.
The heatwave is real. Can’t stay in our apartment during the day because it’s so hot it’s hard to breathe in there.
Blessed to have some pool time with Joe to cool off on Sunday.
I’ll leave the week here! ๐

Ready for some invasive, random questions? (Inspired by the nostalgia of Livejournal surveys, I borrowed these questions from oc-meme-central on Livejournal from 2009). Answer if youโd like:
- What three words would others probably use to describe you?
- Did you enjoy school?
- What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?

Yes, surprise surprise, I love structure and studying and learning. - What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
“No worries.” I realized how often I say this. Maybe it’s a regional thing.

Much love friends.
Your handmade mug is very cute ๐
Glenn is so awwwww, my heart went *_*
The Bird concept is so cool. If it were here in the Philippines the scooters would have been stolen already T_T
I always love seeing your South Pas home and family life ๐
Probably asked this before, where did you buy your gemstones poster!! I love it so much :((
Okay that Cheetos illustration is kinda disgusting :))

Oh my god!! Your 4th of July celebrations looked so fun, and I’m so jealous of your boba tea station. Lovely photos as usual.
What three words would others probably use to describe you?
– Clever, interesting, friendly
Did you enjoy school?
– I hated everything except university. I was bullied in school because of my lack of English skills and my smartassness, but I was very happy once I got to uni.
What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
– I say ‘jรก’ a lot, which is Icelandic ‘yes’; it sounds like yow and it just makes me feel good. I also say ‘alors’, which is French for ‘well…’ and I say it even when I speak English.
