MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: APRIL 2–8, 2018! (TIDE POOLS AND PASADENA FLEA MARKET)
A new orchid joins the family. A day trip to Palos Verdes to check out the Abalone Cove tide pools, Wayfarer’s Chapel, Monkish Brewing and pizza. Plus a Saturday with friends checking out a hapa exhibition with the best lobster you could ask for.
Enjoy!
Hi! It’s Tuesday. Somehow didn’t take a single photo on Monday. A busy day I suppose.
Everytime I’m at the grocery store I see the display of orchids and I’m tempted. Today, I saw this half coral half yellow orchid and I caved…
Too pretty!!!! My mom has a huge collection of orchids. Is it genetic to want to collect them?
It’s Wednesday, looking sickly. The first aid kit in the office only had this massive bandage for a foot. I just needed something to cover a splinter.
It’s a cloudy day. I’m supposed to go shoot over at the Villa and we were hoping for sun.
After work braved the Grove to see Annihilation. Has anybody read the book? I’m tempted. I thought the movie suffered from some Hollywood tropes and bad dialogue and a dumbed down description of the scifi aspects, but it did make think the book would be good.
Barnes and Nobles. I went in looking for a book, but came out with one new puzzle.
Mini shoot of Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide, I worked on this story about the making of the book last year.
Celebrated Zach’s friend’s birthday in North Hollywood. First with a screening of Psycho and then some time at a pool hall.
Orchid update! The little flowers won’t open *sigh*
Loaded up the beach chairs (that we didn’t actually use)
Stopped for a burrito on the go. Who doesn’t love a car burrito.
When the tide is low there are tide pools!
It’s like I’ve never been outside before.
There’s a lot of photos. I’m sorry! The water was just so clear. We saw some sea urchins, and other sea plants. Wanted to find a starfish but no luck.
Wish I had an underwater camera
There’s a little sea cave. We stood there and watched the waves get more intense and the tide rise.
We were right near the Wayfarer’s Chapel so we popped over to check it out.
This is a glass and stone chapel designed and built by Lloyd Wright between 1949 and 1941. According to Atlas Obscura they host 800 weddings annually, 2.2 weddings a day! How is that even possible, dang.
Went to see a nearby lighthouse
Enjoyed a little walking trail with some native coastal plants
Drove out to Torrance to find a brewery
Got home and did a sample size face mask that turned out to be purple
And starting putting together the new one with Bones on in the background. Wow, why am I still watching Bones. It’s not good, but here we are…season 9.
Saturday morning, both pups out at the window enjoying the sun
Made some *choices* before heading out the door to be dropped at the metro
Walked to Little Tokyo to meet Kiki and Anders.
Had a free drink at Cafe Dulce so grabbed some Hong Kong Milk Tea and then we headed to have breakfast.
Meatball on scrambled egg on potatoes! Real good meatball from Jist Cafe.
Not sure why this looks so…foggy? haha
Went to see the Hapa.Me show at the Japanese American National Museum
You can find us in the community wall space
Thoroughly enjoying the seating space outside of MOCA Geffen
Kiki taught us to play darts at Boomtown Brewery
Had Friese’s Landlord with me.
Zach met up with us after rehearsal
I think I need to clean my lens ahah. But here we are at Newport Seafood. I was really craving Chinese style seafood.
We got there before 5pm and there was already a wait.
All worth it for the house special lobster omg this is the small. My mouth is watering looking at it now. I want more!
Sunday morning Tweedy in the sun
Hungry! So first things first we had some pupusas.
They didn’t have any knives so we tore these babies apart.
Not sure what I was hoping to find. Nothing called out to me so I walked away empty handed.
Grocery shopping while hungry…
Zach had to go to meet up with his friend but requested a stew. I googled this recipe and adjusted it to add more seasonings.
Had to add red wine to the sauce so why not have a glass.
Made some rosemary chicken for my lunches this week.
Also made a few for hot wings again. Had that for dinner because the stew was going to take forever.
I saw in the recipe comments that somebody recommended to saute onions before adding them.
Just in time for Zach to have returned home haha. I was too full to eat any but I’m sure it’ll be good as leftovers…
Hope you had a good week! Much love friends.
My father always requested stew from my mum and she would spend hours on it, and he would get home with some friends and they’d demolish it in maybe thirty minutes. It made me smile to see Zach enjoying some stew!

Pupusas are actually meant to be eaten with just your hands! So no forks…no problem!

That chapel looked really familiar to me, and so I double checked, and yes it is the chapel that Revenge shot Daniel and Emily’s wedding in (if you’ve seen the show)!
