A DAY IN MY LIFE: SEPTEMBER 4, 2017 (LABOR DAY, DIM SUM, KARAOKE)!
Relaxing on Labor Day with my family, swimming and playing with my little cousins, attempting my own passport photos for my Vietnam visa, dumplings for dinner for Gabby’s birthday, and three hours of karaoke with friends.
Enjoy!
Sufi is immediately right in my face
Messy head but I’m just here to get some coffee.
Still working through an eczema flare on both of my cheeks
Lounge in bed with my coffee and dogs and play Godus
Sufi getting his morning attention
We are in the midst of preparing for three weeks in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia and one of the last un-fun planning things is getting the Vietnam Visa sorted. Need to take some passport photos today.
Putting together my weekly photo post from the week before September 4.
Clean my counters and prep my watermelon
Today is Labor Day, which typically means a BBQ in the US (at least where I am from). I’m heading to my cousin’s for a potluck and swimming and family time and I’m tasked to bring the watermelon.
I think I cut my finger every time I document a day. I sliced my finger with the edge of the aluminum foil box, the razor part. How! I’m getting clumsier.
Geared up wearing my suit and ready to go
But first! We need to take our passport photos—this has been stressing me and I just want to get it all sorted.
I move the mirror to the other side of the room.
Testing the little flash that came with my Fujifilm X-T2.
Little cousins are balls of energy
It was both of their birthdays recently and they are so happy to show me the emoji face balloon. They’ve been practicing all the faces ahah.
A light up fidget spinner, she had to show us
A tiny glowing night light that she likes to smack around and it changes color.
“I can play guitar with my tongue.”
Meanwhile downstairs the family is getting all the sandwiches ready
She and her sister had a lemonade stand the day before to raise money to send in support of victims of Hurricane Harvey. She was proudly showing me their donation pile.
The little cousins put this on me but I didn’t realize it was still there till I walked into the bathroom
*Tagged* Playing Colors. Have you played this pool game before? Everybody goes on one edge of the pool, and the “it” person goes on the wall adjacent…they close their eyes and turn around. (Sometimes they even stand outside the pool). They have to say colors outloud and without turning around try to listen for the other people crossing the pool quietly when the color they picked in their head is called. The “it” person has to tag somebody while they are in transit from one side of the pool to the other. I need to get other pool games in my arsenal, my little cousins liked Colors so much but it is all we played because I couldn’t remember other ones…
It was getting a little windy and chilly
Blake’s towel has musubi on it
Meanwhile, back inside…there are desserts being prepared.
And re-bandage my sad cut from earlier.
Everybody winding down energy-wise
Take my mom back home. She’s proud of my dad who has been re-painting the outside of the house.
There were steps here, I guess nobody plays under the deck anymore like I did when I was little haha.
Just checking in. Godus isn’t supported by the developers anymore. I need a new game, I really like Godus but there’s not much to do in the level I’m at anymore.
Back to relax for a bit before heading out for Gabby’s birthday
Oooh! Look what arrived. Backpacks for our trip.
Preparing for passport photo printing
The printer is being tempermental.
Finally wrap up this post and get it up on sleepywaldo.blog.
Shooting today with my new baby, the Fujifilm X-T2. How have you liked the color and quality? I didn’t mess with color, just contrast and exposure in post.
ROC! We made it. Hi Gabby! Happy Birthday!
Bok choy and scallion pancakes
And what we all come for…soup dumplings!!! Their yelp page if you’re in LA and have never been and are curious. Not as famous as Din Tai Fung or Mama Lu’s but decent for the westside convenience.
We pick up some beers from Nijiya Market
In the middle of the heat wave
Gabby singing anything is my favorite
Parting ways and back to drop off Kiki and Ders.
I prep coffee for the next day
Hop into bed and watch some Emmy Eats
Official goodnight, just after midnight!
Much love friends.
EEeeeeee! Those baby fat rolls are so cute!
How’s the trip planning going? You’re off on your travels so soon!
Where is your dungaree dress from? It’s really nice and I’m in the market for a new one.
The fujifilm photos are A+ would look at again.

We leave in less than a week now (ahhhh!) now I’m focusing all my stress energy into packing. What will I forget? We’ll see…
I got it from Asos! It was relatively cheap and it’s super comfy.
And ty!! So far I’m very happy with my new baby.
