MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: APRIL 3–9, 2017!
A few visits to the dentist to get my missing retainer sorted, preparing for my week on a family cruise, winning as many stuffed animals as possible with Gabby, and finally my first few days on board.
Underneath my shoes are my secret Totoro socks
Leftover pizza from the day before
Worked on some freelance graphic design stuff—font licensing is confusing.
Early morning! Off to the dentist.
Doggos hid my retainer (maybe they ate it? Destroyed it?) So I’m here to try on a new one that was made from an impression of my mouth the dentist took last week. Unfortunately…it didn’t fit. And they had to make new molds of my mouth.
I left empty-handed and listened to Episode 3 of S-Town, the podcast story by the Serial and This American Life teams. If you listened to it…guess what episode caused this cry face?
I see these lil’ kittens in and around my neighbor’s front yard and it brings me joy to see them.
Sara came over and we decided to do a night ride to the ocean.
We went as fast as we could to beat the sunset (so we didn’t have to bike in the dark)
Unfortunately we lost the race and the sun was setting as we reached the marina.
After biking we went out for vegan sushi. Not bad.
Tristan gave me his croutons from his salad so I had DOUBLE CROUTONS.
Got into Peak for brain training for a while. Crusty brain.
She got me out of my apartment to a nearby Dave & Busters. That face says “I’m ready for a stuffed animal.”
We destroyed some nachos and wings before turning our attention to half-priced game night.
Gabby is unusually good at claw games
I had my time to shine with this 500 ticket win
Touching a pug outside the grocery shop
Gave my winning plushies to the pups and Tweedy took control of all four and wouldn’t let Sufi play.
Packed up Glenn and brought him into the office.
Shiny post work out…eczema flare on my face acting up
Glenn and I waiting for Miranda in the cafe for the hand off
After work I met Zeen for dinner at a poke shop in the valley
Ate my poke and then we headed over to Evan’s birthday celebration
Evan organized a night of comedy and music for his b-day. Lots of dancing and big band music. HBD Evan!
Morning, Tweedy! Still hoarding the stuffies I see.
Back to the dentist once more!
My dentist is like 40 minutes away, and I always make my appointments in the morning…so I generally am tired when I arrive.
I asked to keep the molds of my mouth…eheeheh what will I do with these. Endless possibilities.
Got my new retainer and a second mouth all in one appointment
Worked on a Spongebob puzzle for a while. Totally in my element.
My dad shoves some flowers into a small vase for my mom and I to take to the hospital for my cousin who just had a new baby
My dad wants to paint the house, I’m *lucky* to give some input.
Got home from visiting the new baby and my dad pinned some hot cheetos for me to find
Testing out this waterproof case (it worked!)
A friend from college is a designer and released this cute swimsuit top that I had to snatch up for my cruise. Her site is here if you want to look at her other beach-inspired designs.
We were the only folks in there
Time for a visit to coinstar? The next photo is a pic of the total. Wanna guess how much this comes out to?
Started packing for my trip but had to stop to snug the pups cuz I’ll miss them!
Packing things, getting ready for the morning.
Zach’s socks and sandals look.
Tidied up a bit and played some Harvest Moon while waiting for my parents to arrive.
We got to port early, checked in, found our rooms and settled in.
Mrs. Doubtfire on the ship TV. One of Zach’s favorite movies.
Our luggage arrived to the stateroom, so we spent some time unpacking.
Never had a strawberry daiquiri before—why not get one while waiting for the safety muster.
Before we set out for sea there was a mandatory muster. Oh! By the way, my family is on this boat for a week for a cruise down the Mexican Riviera. My cousin works for Princess and my parents love taking advantage of *deals*.
I packed clothes I rarely wear cuz hey it’s a cruise world now and I’m just livin’ in it
It amazes me that food is included in the cost of the cruise. You can order as much as you want…
Sunset viewing of “Arrival” with Amy Adams
Voice of the Ocean auditions…aka karaoke. I got Zach to audition and he got a few votes, but didn’t make it into the final round.
We got up to hit the gym and pool.
Chilling and swimming and reading by myself
Changed into my cruise shorts ahah
Met up with my parents for lunch at the pub on board. This day was a sea day, so we didn’t stop anywhere. Had to keep ourselves occupied at sea.
Spent the afternoon walking around, exploring, wearing colorful shorts.
Went to a raffle and we both happened to win!
I got credits for tournaments in the casino. I decided my mom and I would enter a slot tournament together ahha.
Went full Princess Leia for dinner.
And I’ll leave you with this pic of my dinner.
And next week…three ports, more time at sea, and returning to Los Angeles.
Much love friends.
DOUBLE CROUTS???? That’s real friendship
Hahahaha Tweedy and his toys – so cute! Poor Sufi.
I said approx $30! I’m quite proud of myself.
I love your many and various cruise outfits. How many times did you change??
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your cruise life!

Sufi still hasn’t gotten a chance to snuggle any of the new toys. Whenever Sufi goes near…Tweedy can sense it and will show up out of the blue and take them back.
Not bad guestimate!
I changed probably like 3 or 4 times a day. I thought…why not wear something I might not normally, I can walk around the ship, feel like I “went out” and if it’s uncomfortable, go back to my cabin in a few minutes and change. Sometimes I changed because of dresscode, though—for example, the restaurant didn’t allow shorts, but the buffet did, so if we went for a sit down formal dinner, I had to wear pants. #CruiseLife

I love your orchids! One of my friends gave me an orchid as a housewarming gift and it is so beautiful (it makes me happy). Lovely times. Glad to see you back!

Thank you! The orchids remind me of being home in South Pas because my mom has an orchid collection that she tends to.

Lmaaaaaaao you absolutely kill me. It’s like reading myself writing in the future. I am going on a cruise and I’m bringing all the stuff I’ve bought for the ‘me I want to be’ but that doesn’t quite work for me in real life. ahahahahah brilliant.

Yes! It’s the perfect opportunity to wear what ever you want—you’ll never see this folks again, you have opportunities to change quickly if you need to…so why not! Also your question about cameras…I didn’t have my big camera on board on sea days, I only used it for excursion days!
