MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: FEBRUARY 27–MARCH 5, 2017! (PART 2)
This is part 2, read part 1 here.
Starting the week in Vegas at the Neon Museum, ending the week in a snowstorm in Tahoe. A week of late work nights and early mornings that was worth it, saw friends from high school, built snow-people, overcame a mountain storm, and more.
Enjoy!
Rachel let us do a crossword in her book, so we spent the morning doing a “Tuesday” puzzle. Honestly…was a blast.
My socks and shoes matched Rachel’s rug
Zach carrying Gabby’s laptop bag ahah
Got coffees and hopped in a Lyft
Met up with Kristen at SFMOMA too
Started up on Level 7 and worked our way down
Dan Flavin in the galleries, Dan Flavin lighting in the bathroom
Doggo loves Japanese photography
For lunch we walked over to a place called HRD
Walked over to Thirsty Bear to have a beer
Walked around Rachel’s neighborhood
Bought some important supplies for the weekend in the snow
Got Rachel and her boyf a little succulent as a lil’ thank you for letting us stay
Waitin’ to be picked up by Rachel and her boyf
I rented some gear, and then we all packed up the car. The four of us fit plus all our snowboard and ski stuff, and luggage…
Stu hooked it up with a scratch off at our first stop (Tahoe is 4 hours drive from San Francisco)
We made it to our friend’s mom’s house late on Friday night, so we basically set up all the beds and went to bed.
Woke up really early, ate quickly, and got in the car to drive over to the mountain
Looks gross, but the hot dog in the french roll…A+ ski food
Gabby and I were really the only beginners
After doing the smaller runs with Gabby for a few hours, we decided to find some drinks. Our legs were exhausted.
Got back to the house around 5:30pm
Ordered a pizza (I added some hot cheetos why not)
Had a snowball fight in the front yard
Tiny snowmen
Snowman is pretty lumpy cuz the snow wasn’t sticking together too too well, but hey it works
We knew the roads would be bad, so we decided to leave earlier than we intended to make sure we made our 9pm flight.
Said our goodbyes and hit the road around 11am
Stopped to get lunch a little bakery
Shared a sandwich and salad with Zeen
Roads closed. We had to turn around several time. Major accidents caused more closures. People were just freaking out in this storm and everybody trying to leave the mountain was stuck.
One 3 mile stretch took us 7 hours to cross. That’s not an exaggeration.
At the time, we had a crossword, we had snacks, we were just having fun and talking with each other.
But it was getting dark. Even though we had given ourselves 10 hours to get back from Tahoe…we knew we wouldn’t make the flight. So we had to call and cancel and rebook for the morning.
We finally got through that pass that took 7 hours to conquer and had to PEE really badly. The first thing we saw?
Unfortunately this was MANY people’s idea
40 minute bathroom line, but it was our only option before continuing down the mountain
Finally made it off the mountain around 9pm and stopped for In N Out
And around midnight we were back to Rachel’s apartment. Thankfully Rachel had us another night…but damn. 11 hours. Shoutout to Stu and Rachel who took turns driving throughout that madness.
Much love friends.
