This is Monday, January 17, 2017!
Day off of work? Escape the city with your friends. Add in some free wine tasting, some steaks, fries, and a visit to Ostrichland.
Prepare yourself for a lot of ostrich shots. Couldn’t contain myself.
Enjoy!
Good morning! A bit of a late start, but hey, the day before Zeen ran a half marathon and we were up like 4am for that.
My. Legs. Are. Sore. From. Walking. Around. All. Day.
I feel like I walked more than 8 miles, but hey. I’m complaining…
Evidence from the late night dinner we had from Taco Bell the night before
And started packing up for wine country
He does this every morning and evening, whenever you say “WAAAALK” in a high pitched voice but it still cracks me up every time.
Sufi and his Mickey. He tries to take Mickey on every walk…
Any surface? I’ll put my shit on it.
Picking up Kiki soon, I’m running a little late it’s my baaaad.
Pimples and irritated eczema skin hello hello
Put clothes on and scurried out the door
Out the door, and here we goooo
Sometimes you need some emergency deodorant
Picking up some cheeses and lil’ picnic supplies
Loading up the car with more food
And some of my favorite people
So off we go to Solvang/Buellton–we came up for wine tasting a few months ago, Zach and Kiki jointly acquired a membership to a wine club which means we have to come pick up bottles every few months. That also means free tastings for the day at a few different wineries! Not a horrible errand to take.
The drive is approximately 2 hours away from Los Angeles
All of my annoying blank CDs that drives Zach nuts whenever we take my car anywhere
I’m a bad person and can’t remember the name of the winery…
About half way through our tasting, they announced a winery tour…why the heck not
Started outside at this cork tree. It’s actually squishy like cork!
Walked out to the vineyard portion
Endless rows and rows and rows of wine
After the tour we grabbed our picnic from the car
Firestone! That’s the winery. I cheated, I saw the label in these photos ehehe.
Cheese and salami and crackers
Lincourt, a cute little yellow house overlooking their vineyard.
Tasting a few more things here
Driving through Solvang to get to a special…place…
Excited for the most beautiful light as we approached…
Pay like $6 or $7 and you get a tray of food to feed the babies
You walk out the back and it’s a beautiful landscape and little ostriches dotting the land.
They eating super quickly, so I was cracking up going through these photos because you can see the slow mo chaos of the ostriches throwing food into their mouths
Kiki so thrilled to participate
They eat so aggressively, but so cutely in a way? Just so delighted to hang with them.
We walked out with delightful memories and empty trays
Nothing better than being totally leisurely with friends. Just da beeeest.
Pro tip: Make a reservation! It’s a popular place even if it’s on the road side
A serious steak decision had to be made
GARLIC GARLIC GARLIC ROASTED GARLIC
I got to squeeze out the little babies
Soup starter to share with Zeenie
And we shared this beautiful yummy steak and fries
7:30 pm. We’ve had such a classy day, let’s mix it up and pop by the casino
We split off, Kiki and Zach did their blackjack thang
I gave my $10 to the slots….hahah
Then Ders and I had some screen time
Then we started the long drive home
Made it back to LA after a bunch of random traffic
Home and exhausted (even though I’m not the one who drove)
Prepped the coffee the next day
The dishes were a bit chaotic, so I just did a quick midnight tidy
Opened my Tatcha package! Love getting stuff from them, their wrapping is always so beautiful and calming. I get my moisturizer from Tatcha, but only order during sales or deals (cuz it’s pricey!!!) so this time I got a gift set with any $100+ order (which the cream I use for eczema is) and look at all my new goodies.
While the pups and I watched The Fall
Can’t stop watching……….fell asleep after 1am. *Whew*
Much love friends.
