MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JANUARY 16–22, 2017!
A visit to the ostrich farm and wineries up in Solvang, a rainy week in Los Angeles, visiting out of state cousins and a whirlwind food tour of LA eats…plus admitting to myself that I have a big crush on Stella Gibson…anyone?
Enjoy!
I documented this day fully, but here are a few snapshots of a Monday we had off for MLK Day.
Touring the wine-making portion of a vineyard/winery outside Solvang
A quick pitstop to get free tastings at another winery. I’m bad with names…
I then convinced everybody to go to a nearby ostrich farm that I’d been to in the past
How could you resist these faces
They are pretty aggressive, actually…but…in a thrilling way I guess
Beautiful dusky light and glow
Suddenly my hair feels and looks really really long
Tristan has that top of hill parking going on this month
Sweater my mom got me for Christmas
Filled up my car at the gas station and noticed all these flavors of Kettle chip…Himalayan salt??? New York cheddar?!?! Chili Lime!??! Korean BBQ?!?!?!
Had to get in on this Meitu action
Tweedy helping me on this rainy evening with some freelance work
Zach made chili in the cast iron pan for some reason, but hey it turned out well
Chili on rice with cheese and a soft boiled egg
Playing Overcooked, the most delightful game.
Tweedy sleeping on Ders’ laptop
Moved aside everything in the workroom to make room for an inflatable mattress
A tight squeeze, but it fit!!! (Zach’s cousins are coming into town)
On Thursday Zach picked up his cousins and brought them to have lunch with me at work
This was their first true LA visit, so we wanted to take them to try all the food they can’t get in Utah
Lychee martinis while waiting for our table at Quarters, a Korean BBQ place
Quick selfie in the mirror with the ring light around it
So bummed that it’s raining when his cousins were in town…at least it’s not as cold as in Utah!
Special shoutout and thank you to Mindy!!!! Mindy saw that in my ADIML at Disneyland that Zach was looking for a Tower of Terror pin (since it’s now gone from the park) and she got one for him from Disney World during her visit. SO KIND! Thank you again.
And sharing a pizza from the market
Peeked into the Bradbury Building
Tile flower behind the Walt Disney Concert Hall
Cafe Dulce special donut holes!
And final stop on the happy hour tour, Seven Grand
We rushed over to our reservations at Badmaash
Butter chicken and a pork curry dish. This tamarind pork curry was SO GOOD. It reminded me of beef rendang weirdly enough, I’ve only had beef rendang twice so I’m not expert in Malaysian food…but I’ve been craving good Malaysian food ever since I had it in London. This came close in flavor!!! (From what I could remember)
Blue Star from Portland made it to Venice
Walked around into some shops, did some window shopping
Walked over to see the water, but it was soooo windy we had to get out of there
Visiting our friend’s brewery out in South El Monte…they have a brand new tasting room that is big and gorgeous and we’re so excited for them!
Kevin brought out the brewery kitties
Margie had to head out earlier than Chris, so we said goodbye at the brewery!
And for dinner…how about some hot pot!
Sunday morning, the weather switched between pouring and drizzling for the whole day
Dropped Chris off at the airport
I was watching Skins and doing some freelance work while Zach chilled hard
Finished Season 2 of The Fall!!!! guys. I’m so obsessed. I’m obsessed with the show but especially with Gibson and have a mad crush on Gillian Anderson as Gibson. *love her so much* No spoilers if you’ve finished it, I know it’s an old series…but I’ve not caught up yet
Much love friends.
