MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: DECEMBER 26, 2016-JANUARY 1, 2017! (PART 2)
Our annual family trip up to San Luis Obispo after Christmas, hiking to a waterfall with the pups, seeing my mom’s high school self in a gallery show, and spending New Years weekend with my closest friends who came down from the Bay area.
Start with PART 1 if you haven’t! Click meeee.
Worked on my puzzle with gecko’s assistance
Zach is back from his holiday time in Texas! We took the pups on a waterfall-hunting hike
Sufi seems weaker but surprisingly he’s the waaaaay better hiker. Tweedy is terrible…was worried he’d need to be carried
The hike involved crossing a river a few times as we headed toward the waterfall
Helping Tweedy cross the stream
THEY BOTH MADE IT!!!!!! To the end!!!! so proud.
Beautiful! So happy to see water here…was worried with the drought that it’d be barren
Letting the pups dry out in the sun
Got back to the car…somebody had a blast
Zach and I took my mom to Descanso Gardens
My mom was like…”let’s take a photo” but then proceeded to answer a phone call.
My mom wanted to show me the gallery space, there’s a show there about the Japanese Garden at Descanso and surprise! My mom has some photos in it. She worked there when she was in high school!
Here’s a pic of my mom (she’s in the middle) that’s in the gallery! She served tea to guests at the tea house in the Japanese Garden
Here’s a photo of my Aunt, my mom’s twin
They were setting up lights for the light up nighttime event (separate tickets) but we got a preview of the lights
Fog and laser show over the lake
My mom and Zach and I stopped for some Korean food for dinner. We had kalbi (marinated bbq beef ribs), spicy pork bbq, kimchi, rice, bean sprouts, tofu, hot spicy tofu soup with seafood, and assorted pickled goodies.
Got home and dad was playing with gecko
Zach and I finally finished Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life….I’ll say that my reaction at the end (to the final four words) was horror and made me mad hahah. UGH. But overall? I enjoyed the series, found myself smiling, crying, loving Emily and Lorelai and MICHELE and being delighted. But yeah…Rory is trash lol.
Friday morning I brought Glenn with me to babysit my little cousins
Watched them for a few hours in the morning
My mom came along and saw a Facebook video on how to curl hair with a paper towel or rags….which is apparently how her mom (my grandma) used to curl her hair
We played with OSMO! It’s pretty neat, they got it for Christmas. You put a little mirror on the camera, and you can draw (and play other games too) and the game puts them into the scene. Here’s a submarine we drew…
They don’t like cats or dogs (too afraid) but surprisingly they loved the gecko
The final look ahha not perfect but pretty cute
My cousin came back so we headed home
Loving all the rain we’re getting
Had a nice ramen dinner with my family before packing most of my stuff and heading back to Culver City…friends are coming down from the Bay area to hang out for New Years weekend. SO EXCITED.
Alyssa and Aryn!!!!!! Both live in the bay. But here for the weekend.
We went to downtown cuz these ladies wanted to dance
Alyssa stayed with me. Good morning!
Met back up for brunch, but I wasn’t feeling too well so afterwards I came home to have tea and lay down
Tea and resting while listening to the rain
And Alyssa and I somehow found ourselves watching all of old MTV on YouTube…Room Raiders…Parental Control…NEXT
We got our shit together and headed back over to Kiki’s to prep for the New Year’s Eve party we decided on last minute
We got some balloons and other stuff from the Dollar Store
We told people to come at 9, and started getting ready at about 8:30 hahah
Round fruit to bring into the New Year (Aryn and Kiki said it was Filipino tradition) but HAPPY to have an adorable small apple
Gin and tonic and my gemstone dress
Getting close to midnight! Pop that bottle
Passed out our glow sticks and what we thought were poppers from the Dollar Tree (they weren’t poppers…they were kaleidoscopes)
MARIE! She’s back from Mexico City
Brunch and youtube videos and we say our final goodbyes before they head up to the bay and I head to Japanese New Year eating
Happy New Year!!!!!
It’s 2017…so strange. I may do a 2016 reflections post…of just some highlights of the year. š
Much love friends.
