This is Friday, June 19, 2015!
A day of hustle and bustle around the house, some major cleaning, a quick trip to the best Los Angeles curiosity cabinet, a romp with some raptors, and some spicy garlic fry breath to last through an evening downtown. *Whew* My feet hurt.
Enjoy!
Off on a Friday means farting around on the internet for an extra 30 minutes in bed
He’s always sitting on top of my pillow GET OFF
Let the pups out so they can hang in the sunlight, their favorite morning activity
Catching Tweedy mid-shake is the best
Made one salad with my basil and it’s been struggling to regrow ever since
Sipping coffee from the Vermeer mug
Attempting to catch up on Game of Thrones. (I’m still not done with the new season, no spoilers plzzz)
Sufi hates all other life forms.
Wash face, pile on the skin medicines…
Casual afternoon, which means wearing my shirt that Zach says looks like an apron so cool
Walked over to the grocery store, such good boys! Getting pet by lots of strangers. (Sufi seems more popular in public, but we all know Tweedy is the true heart warmer)
It’s Aryn’s birthday! I wish I could be celebrating with her, but she’s up in the Bay. I dig up this old photo from college…*sigh* MISS living with friends
Attempting my new claritin regiment (swapping out my prescribed antihistamine for something store bought…powerful one gave me headaches)
*Bacon flip* *Grease splashes onto skin* *Click!*
My workroom has spiraled out of control. It’s time to clean.
I put some Songza on (I might be the only one in the world who still uses songza)
Smells like cleaning products in hurr
Beautiful egg on buttered toast
I somehow placed a Tylenol pill on this pile of posters. So. Cool?
I’m the queen of a cluttered living space. I do like all the weird and wondrous things on this shelf.
Zach helps me put the basket of sea glass up to where I can’t really reach
Put their bed up on my little shelf and they wouldn’t have it.
Sufi’s wondering why I’m such a jerk
Never noticed that the levels in this lot were movie themed before…
The Museum of Jurassic Technology. A semi-recent story about this place, but I think it’s best left to explore on your own if you’re ever in Culver City.
No photos inside, here’s a quick photo of a bird in the upstairs sanctuary space. We had a movie to catch, so unfortunately had to rush out after about 30 minutes.
The “historic” Culver City Hotel, built on the site of the city’s first movie theater in 1924. Now it also has a restaurant and a few bars, I believe.
It’s a pretty building, standing all on its own.
This theater was recently turned into an ArcLight…which just means the same screens and theater but more expensive everything else. 😦
Zach loves movie popcorn more than his own arms
Which I’d like…5/10 stars. Raptors wearing tiny hats was A+. But the story made no sense, and the action was aggressively excessive (the bird scene and that harmless assistant?? for example).
Change clothes and put on some eyeliner, heading back out again
Some more Gilmore Guys in the car
Parked in another part of town, ready to carpool
The view of the 10 headed past downtown
Parked downtown, staring into the sun with Tristan
Here at Cole’s, the french dip “inventor”. I’ve always gone to Philippe’s, nearer to South Pasadena side of downtown who also claimed to be the french dip “inventors” I don’t know who to believe anymore
Here to take advantage of happy hour
And a wall full of historic photos
I got a happy hour french dip sampler with beef, chicken, and pastrami. And the spicy garlic fries are UNREAL.
Definitely check it out (I feel like a traitor now)
March through downtown at magic hour
Tristan figuring out parking signs, a true LA sight
Taking the elevator up to the rooftop bar.
Beautiful warm light peeking into the bar
Take our drinks to one of the two outdoor patios. The view is so lovely. (How did that car get there)
There’s a speck of something on my lens. That bothers me.
It’s in all these photos. That speck.
I’m so sorry, now you can’t unsee the speck
Soaking up a few more views of downtown at night, then heading out to a friend’s opening
All walking distance, what a dream
A show that Iris put together before she heads off to become a megastar in New York
A view of Broadway from another rooftop
Tweedy, I came back! I did it! For you.
A late evening for Waldo. Off to Zzzzz.
Much love friends.
