MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: AUGUST 18 – 24
A week with Yoko in the house, Aryn coming into town, FYF festival madness and beyond.
Enjoy!
The week started with a particularly smelly awakening. My mom did warn me, but Yoko had pooped, stepped in it, and smeared it around the kitchen. It's pretty jarring to wake up and immediately clean up poop.
A view of the Getty from the bottom of the hill.
Here at this bar with lovely floral decals to celebrate my intern's last week on the job. *It went by so fast*
Early on Tuesday I took her to a vet appointment at a new place. She hurt her wrist/front paw and was limping. Don't worry, she's fine! Just on some anti-inflammatories now.
It was a particularly gray day.
I had to leave work early to grab Yoko and make sure she was being watched. She got an injection and I was nervous to leave her alone.
But while I'm here to pick her up, must grab Bento Man for lunch.
Cuuuuuuz
She is blind, deaf and now limping but she doesn't lose her spirit! I let her wander and found her in this weird place. How she got here? I'm not sure.
Do you ever watch Face Off? The special effects make up competition show…haha, well that's a monkey that I've met before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kingston! Gabby's sister used to work at that animal conservation place and took him home a few times. Amazing. He's a star.
Good morning, Yoko!
We're all just livin' in Yoko's world
Attempted to soft boil some more eggs
That's an alright looking breakfast, eh?
Don't worry, Suf. I haven't forgotten about you.
Working on a set of thank you cards.
Some lunch – avocado toast with cayenne, salt, pepper on a hot dog bun cuz why not.
Decided to go on a run around my neighborhood, explore the little streets.
I found an aquarium stockin' store aka they sell all kinds of fish. I've somehow not really been into a store as industrial/business looking at this. Like – are they selling directly to aquarium makers? I recently met a guy who made aquariums for famous people. Maybe he shopped here.
Running along the bike path and "river" at magic hour. Not bad!
Eating my leftover ramen but with a soft-boiled egg for dinner
Working on a few cards!
(YES, STILL…)
Our team's lovely intern hooked it up with some Lush wrapped in these scarves! Perfect to spice up our depressing office walls.
TWO DEER on the drive down from work.
Went to see The Zombies at a free concert on the Santa Monica pier.
IT'S ARYN! Aryn mad grinnin'!!!!!!!!!
Then had some pretty decent jerk chicken
Attempted to cut the large flag design into smaller postcard size designs.
Now I can write thank you notes on the back and send them like a puzzle!
Finishing up work and outta here for the weekend!
Picking up my shooting star from her friend's house.
Yoko needs her own reality show. Everybody loves Yoko.
Gotta have a dog park romp if we're doing this right
Went over to Marielle's to say hello and goodbye! She's off to London for a year of film studies. Dang gurl.
Alan and Aryn rekindling the love.
Sometimes you're craving fresa okay
Yeah, you'll see that I get real into this silly perspective shots.
Yeah, got a CHUCK E' CHEESE TOKEN from the metro ticket dispenser. Not cool metro.
Here at FYF. Fuck Yeah Fest. I've been 3 other times. One time I got massively sick from food poisoning but still really wanted to see Girls and went and really had the worst time ever. The other times were more casual drop in's and were so great! This time however…
We waited over 2 hours to even get in! And we showed up before gates opened. We missed two sets waiting in this hot ass California sun. The festival was at a new venue this year and it was so so so bad. Nobody should do festivals there again.
I'll not say anything more! Cause it truly was a blessin' to see my friends together, a bunch of them. And that was more important than the festival. Buuut to really see how mad people are…read the fun comments on their Facebook page.
Oh here's the line up if you wanna check it out.
Got in to catch the end of Real Estate.
Sliders and beer for late lunch.
Hmmphhhhh. Listening to Little Dragon from the beer garden.
Walking over to catch Future Islands.
Craft brewz. We hung out there until the last set of the evening.
Blue phase Kiki before Grimes.
The next morning we decided to jump start the brain with some happy kitchen cake making.
Not bad, actually.
Downtown LA in the background ehhhh
Kiki and her friend join us at the station just in time
We watched Twin Peaks and stayed for Joanna Gruesome.
Semi-craft beer garden shots (HEY GABBY!)
mMmhm
Then went to see Presidents of the USA
A journey down to a different beer garden to relax, and have beers by this dumpster…classic festival living
❤ Poop
Then my phone died. Got jostled around by a crazy crowd to see the Strokes…
Then ended the night with some good ol' fashioned fiery doritos tacos.
*SIGH* UNHEALTHY WEEK
Must recharge.
Much love friends.
