MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: APRIL 29–MAY 5, 2019!
Belated birthday celebrations with friends and my family, a Long Beach music festival, plus shooting food in Little Tokyo and lots of new pottery fresh out of the kiln.
Enjoy!
We love a Monday morning dermatologist appointment.
Big trimming day. I’ve been bad about timing when I throw things of different sizes and they accidentally dry at the same time and I have to trim a lot.
In the morning took new photos of the new pieces I took home, including this bowl! White clay with robin’s egg glaze on the inside.
More little disappointed dudes and a soy sauce dish
This beautiful piece was made 80% by my studio mate (the shape is his beautiful work) but I finished it by trimming and glazing.
Too many pics, just proud of my haul this time around.
The veggies are starting to pop off
Spending the evening shooting more food photos at Far Bar and Sake Dojo in Little Tokyo
Our internal digital conference at work—panicked over public speaking for a week or so, it was over in 5 minutes.
Poster sessions showing some user research on a journey map, made in collaboration with my colleague.
Made it to Long Beach for the Just Like Heaven music festival, it is the first time this fest has gone on.
Saw Peter Bjorn and John, Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Phoenix, a lil Shiny Toy Guns, Tennis…
Getting a chance to listen to my Stardew Valley records set and live on my farm
So at my recent dermatologist appointment, I decided I was ready to go on isotretinoin aka accutane aka what I’m taking that isn’t the brand accutane. After months with an uphill battle with my skin, lots of tears and worrying, I’m at my wits end and just ready to accept that relief that things are improving is worth any side effects. I got a little order of stuff to help me make the plunge, and yes, I read online that nipple cream is the best for dry lips.
Hanging a few more things around the house. AND please look how happy this cute ass plant is doing.
Working on framing and hanging again. Please let this end.
Flamingo that we acquired years ago at the Neon Museum in Vegas finally was hung up
Now that it is sunny and warming up, it’s sooo nice to spend the morning outside, poking around my plants, weeding, etc.
Also brought these home from pottery, I was a bit careless about glazing but I think they are still cute chopstick rests. They are gifts for Mother’s Day weekend.
Jeopardy on the tv at the Boiling Crab
Sunday morning my mom and dad came over with a lil’ bday gift and we went out to spend some time together.
They took us to this pottery warehouse which they discovered driving around one day. It was like heaven, great value for big pots and all kinds of shapes and sizes and colors…
Lunch and wandering around Marukai
Home with a treat for later, and my mom showing me some wrapping supplies.
My mom and dad gifted me a ficus
And this Japanese juniper bonsai

Much love friends.
I went to Just Like Heaven festival too! Flew in from NYC and hung out with some friends in LA, went to the festival and then took a trip down the coast to San Diego. I had never been to Long Beach before but it’s BEAUTIFUL out there. Counting down the (years) til I move. lol.

I went on Friday. My main reason for going was to see Phoenix. They’ve been one of my favorite bands since 2001. Can’t believe that’s pushing 20 years good GOD lol. I saw them last year in Brooklyn and figured why not fly out and see them again. They put on such a great show. Was also excited for Beach House who I haven’t seen live in 6 years. I really enjoyed Yeah Yeah Yeahs but wish MGMT had a night spot. I feel like their set/visuals would’ve been more fun if it was dark out. Miike Snow and Grizzly Bear were good too. Bummed that I missed Tokyo Police Club.

I have a few snakeplants around my house that I love! They look super neat and are easy to take care of. Plus, I read that they help filter the air!

I just picked up a money tree and I love how cute yet low maintenance it is! I also think it has some air purifying qualities which I appreciate.
