MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: NOVEMBER 19–25, 2018!

Celebrating Thanksgiving with my coworkers, friends, and family. Plus, some sad cat-related news.

Enjoy.

A visit to the dermatologist and it’s confirmed, I have “moderately severe” adult acne that insurance won’t cover because insurance doesn’t think women get acne over age 26! Wow, love my random HORRIBLE SKIN!!!!!! REAL confidence booster. These are the only products the derm recommended I use, only one cleanser, the prescription stuff, and he was hoping I could get away with no moisturizer but I told him I was eczema prone and had dry skin. He didn’t like that. I didn’t really like his attitude at all, I wish I never had to see a male doc again, he was a bad listener…

Got my shit together and unpacked a little more. My family is coming over for Thanksgiving so I needed to clear some space…

Marie’s beautiful gifts, flowers and hot cheetos. It was really special to fit like 15 of my family members into the new place on Thanksgiving. I haven’t hosted a family holiday before, truly grateful!

After Thanksgiving I brought the dogs back to my family house to hang with my parents for the holiday weekend.

And then the weekend got sad…

Untitled

Sunday morning my parent’s cat Snow got out of the house. He and Tubby both escaped while I was walking the dogs. It was definitely my fault, I didn’t close the front door all the way and Tubby managed to open it. I caught Tubby, but couldn’t catch Snow…

Untitled
Untitled
I cancelled all my plans (had a few photo shoots lined up) and just waited hoping that Snow would come back when he was ready to eat or be brushed or whatever.

Untitled

We waited all day. My parents had left in the morning on a few day trip…so I just waited. He never came back. If you ever had a cat escape, what did you do? We posted signs, posted on neighborhood forums, let the nearby shelters know, and all that jazz. My parents saw him nearby but he was under a house in hiding, they set out humane traps but keep catching a opossum…sigh. I feel so horrible about this. We just want Snow to come home.

Thankful for Kiki and Anders, they came over to be on Snow-watch duty so I could go shoot one job I couldn’t reschedule.

After all that waiting, no Snow. We went out for some comforting matzo ball soup.

Some questions that you may or may not feel inclined to answer? I have let this slip for a few weeks, but I always love reading your answers. So! Let’s do it. I invite you to answer in the comments:

  1. Have you ever lost a pet? What happened? Did they come back?
  2. What are you looking forward to this week?
  3. What’s your go-to potluck meal? What do you bring?

  1. Have you ever lost a pet? What happened? Did they come back?
I remember Yoko my old dog ran away a few weeks after we first got her when I was in 5th grade. I was…DEVASTATED. I cried so much. We drove around the neighborhood with missing posters and I cried and cried as I shouted out the car window…dramatic. She came back in the middle of the night! Love you, Yoko.
  2. What are you looking forward to this week?
Going to Disneyland with my friends and Zach, hopefully, will be a relaxing day to just hang out, have fun, and not think about work.
  3. What’s your go-to potluck meal? What do you bring?
Rosemary chicken wings. But I am having friends over for a party and want some ideas for easy to make party-friendly dishes!

Thanks for reading! Much love friends. (Tell Snow to come home).

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about Snow. When I was at college my dearly departed good boy Tom got out but eventually came home the next day, my mom didn’t tell me about it until a year later. I’ve heard the best thing to do is to put out smells familiar to them since they don’t go very far; something that smells like you or your parents and his litterbox if you can. Wishing you the best of luck in finding him.

  2. Hi Sarah! I’ve also had adult acne and found that looking info which foods your body doesn’t digest well helps a lot. You could simply try eliminating them from your diet, or so a test like the IgG. I also had chemical peels done over a period of six months and the combination of the two things made a difference for me!

  3. Putting the litter tray, complete with used litter, outside can help as the smell attracts them. Leave out food and water. Sit outside and talk loudly so they can hear your voice. My cat went for five days and I was totally a mess the entire time, I’m so sorry about Snow. x

  4. Oh no! Don’t feel too guilty, cats are sneaky and they want to escape! Hopefully Snow will return. I would put out things that smell like home, and also keep scanning shelters around the area; they pick up cats and post photos of cats collected.

My hamster once got out of his cage and made a nest in the linen closet! He was dehydrated/hungry when we found him.

What are you looking forward to this week?
Hmm. I am looking forward to the end of the semester (exams).

What’s your go-to potluck meal? What do you bring?
Either three-bean salad OR the good French cheese for afters.
