MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JANUARY 8–14, 2018 (RAINY DAYS, JEWELRY PHOTOGRAPHY, MOCA LOS ANGELES)
A rainy few days in Los Angeles (plus a rainbow at the end of it all!), a few too many nights alone with my puzzle (and I forgot to include a finished picture of it, rats), two freelance photography jobs to fill my long weekend, and seeing friends both who have returned from New York recently.
Monday! Uneventful at work, but it did pour rain all day and into the evening.
A perfect night to make some gyoza soup and just relax at home with my puzzle.
Using our new tea pot (thanks, Zach’s mom!) and enjoying the rainy evening at home.
Tuesday! Another rainy start to the day. I love this rain!
Had a holiday gift exchange and lunch (we were supposed to have it back in December, but the fires impacted the lunch). I got a sloth mug from my secret santa!
The rain let up and we even got a rainbow.
Ah, the Getty Center just so beautiful after the rain.
Drove past what is usually a pretty dry creek bed and it was SO full of water.
I actually drove home to pick up Zach and come back to show him because it was so impressive to see a real river.
Happy to bust out my new raincoat
Rotisserie chicken and salad for dinner plus a mountain of sauces
Wednesday night. Had a lovely cocktail by Zach the mixologist and worked on my puzzle.
Had some shin ramen at home. For some reason just feeling really run down and tired the last few days, it’s been nice to stay home and recharge alone.
Thursday, a retirement lunch for a colleague in my department. Bye Mark!
Thursday eve, bundled.
Met up with Kiki and Marie to try some Japanese-style skewers
Skewers and beer. The beer was good! Skewers were okay.
I need another haircut
Dug out the dog’s sweaters so they could get cozy.
Google Arts & Culture app. What paintings did you match with?
I ordered a new lens for my Fujifilm X-T2 and it arrived! So excited.
Thank you, James! He ordered through my Fiverr, so I painted and printed this card for him.
On Friday, my day off work I met up with Tristan to get some lunch.
Had a really delicious mushroom pizza with the fluffiest crust I’ve ever seen.
After lunch I had to get back to work on my freelance photography job.
Playing with my new lens…ahhh!
This is great. I’m also taking photos of a family friend’s newborn this weekend, ths is going to be perfect.
Got the studio all set up.
Zach and Tweedy have space to the side to still see the TV.
Sufi managed to get under the chair while I was shooting.
Tweedy in his sweater, I just love it too much.
Shooting into the evening on Friday night.
Made some more tea
Shooting for Grayson Taft, I also shot her last collection a year and a half ago.
Shoutout to my stack of books
Chipotle and a movie break. Went to see The Shape of Water. The love between them didn’t feel believable to me! I totally believed in the world, and loved the monster, but something was missing in the build up to their love that when they *really* went for it…physically…she seemed kind of creepy to me? But maybe I have a cold heart.
Saturday morning started with some file maintenance
And then I jumped back into shooting the Grayson Taft collection.
Zach made some late breakfast which I gobbled down before heading to shoot a family friend’s newborn.
He’s too cute! Only 4 weeks old.
Stopped home to say hi to my parents
My mom got me a new bamboo and potted it for me. So thankful!
Oh yeah, Peanut is here with us this weekend.
Saturday afternoon, the shooting continues!
Gabby came over to model for me. I wanted to be sure to shoot all the pieces on somebody’s neck for scale and chain length.
Tweedy surprised to be on set.
Shooting in the studio aka my living room
Andrea came over to model earrings
Finished up in time to eat some thai food delivery for dinner.
Sunday morning Peanut!
Andrea stopped by her with her dog Kevin to grab something she forgot at my place. He’s so cute.
Dogs around the apartment.
I was making avocado toast and they were beyond thrilled to pick up any avocado droppings.
Tweedy in his hoodie. I can’t stop!
Headed downtown to Little Tokyo to meet Iris.
Got there early and picked up our tickets to see the installation at MOCA Geffen.
We went to see “The Theater of Disappearance” by Adrian Villar Rojas. Things have been rotting in cases for a few months now, we visited toward the end of the installation.
From MOCA we decided to grab some tea and walk around.
Cafe Dulce is a must.
Creepin’ around Hauser & Wirth
And finally we sit for some snacks
My favorite wasabi fries from Far Bar
Dropped Iris off at her car. It was so nice to see her, she’s back in LA after living in New York the last few years.
Got home and decided to spend the evening editing photos for my Bangkok Day 2 post which I’m so happy to say went up finally! You can read that here.
Zach getting into cocktail making. Delicious negroni.
Sad record accident
Peeled out of bed to go catch Snake’s comedy team’s show in Hollywood
Sketch night to end the weekend.
Hope you’re all well. Much love friends.
