MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: DECEMBER 18–24, 2017!
The last week at work before the holiday break. A gift-exchange with my Dungeons and Dragons friends ends with digging for gems. I fly out to North Carolina to bring gifts and visit Zach’s sister’s beautiful farm and all her little sheep before heading back home to celebrate Christmas with my family.
Enjoy!
Last week in the office before everybody is off for break. So many coworkers are already off on their vacations, so extra casual for me.
Following Tristan into the garden as he shoots a few plants for a piece on the Getty Iris.
Happy Tuesday! My last day in the office until the New Year.
Found these cute ornaments in the Getty shop.
Got a few gifts for Zach’s family from the Getty shop. There’s so many great books there, for real.
D&D crew got together for a last round and white elephant gift exchange but it devolved and we just hung out.
Kiki got the “Ass Reaper” hot sauce I got from Vegas
Sleeky the Otter went to Ders.
I got a gem kit and dug out my very own special stone.
The crew helped me wrap up gifts to take to Zach’s family’s Christmas.
Everybody’s reaction as Glenn pooped while sitting on the Ass Reaper.
Early morning plane ride and we landed in Atlanta.
We thought we had a massive delay in Atlanta so Zach’s sister came to pick us up (over a 3 hour drive from Asheville) and our flight ended up only being a few hours delayed…woops.
Finally made it to North Carolina, Sandy Mush to be exact. A little township outside of Asheville filled with beautiful forested hills and farm land.
We’re hanging with Jessica (staying nextdoor) for a few days before Zach’s other family arrive.
This house was built by hand in 1995 by the family who used to live here. I love the little swirls in the ceilings.
Breakfast at her neighbor’s beautiful little home.
House decorated for the holidays.
The one wifi spot in the studio
Heading back over to the house to finish up preparing for a neighborhood holiday party that Jessica and her neighbors organized.
Zach and I tidied up and swept the floors, cleaned counters and bathrooms, etc.
Watched Jessica make shortbread with cardamom and rose petals
Enjoying the quiet before the party
Walking between the farm and the house.
The youngest cow can get feisty so Jessica recommended carrying a stick with a bag on the end to shake if they charge. We never found out if it worked, thankfully.
Breakfast tacos, Austin-style in town in Asheville.
Walked to find this cute board game shop to get something for his family to play.
BUILD YOUR OWN DICE SET station omg.
Walked to a thrift shop and got this sweater/jacket and I’m LOVING it.
Walked around downtown Asheville for a bit until Jessica came to pick us up.
We went out towards Warren Wilson College to hike along a little creek.
Zach’s family has arrived and with them, matching pajamas for all.
Back into town again, one more stop at the breakfast taco place because I get dropped at the airport.
Happy to have a box of snacks on the plane. I luuurve plane snacks.
Back to the apartment and the neighbor has really decked out the place.
Sunday morning, back home with my family for the holidays.
I got on wrapping my parent’s gifts
I set it all out for the next morning. Aw, love our tiny tree.
Much love friends.
Obsessed with this whole post. North Carolina looks so different from LA! And that whole setting looks like it came out straight from a Bon Iver album, love it so much 🙂 Also, there’s a place called New Belgium??? Awesome!
Your tiny tree is the cutest! And isn’t gift wrapping so therapeutic???

Thank you! North Carolina, especially in the mountains, has a special magic for sure. New Belgium makes beer!
