MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: OCTOBER 23–29, 2017!
First week back in Los Angeles after three weeks abroad in Southeast Asia. Battling jetlag, seeing friends, eating nothing but junk, and getting back into the routine of life in LA while attempting to embrace the Halloween-time glee in 100 degree weather.
Enjoy!
Good morning! First morning waking up back in Los Angeles. We just got back from our three week trip in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia the night before. Basically only enough time to get the dogs and come back home and pass out.
Tweedy catching sun rays, a familiar sight. It’s almost like the trip was a fever dream. Everything so similiar and familiar like we hadn’t just spent three weeks abroad, doing new and unfamiliar things every day. A weird feeling.
Attempting some fall colors and trying to break free from the 3 outfits I cycle through at work. Of course the week we get back Los Angeles is in a heat wave with highs reaching over 100 degrees.
Got to my desk and somebody who knows me really well left some garlic spam.
Happy to see a happy atmospheric sunset on my first day back to work.
Zach promised me that we’d visit the pumpkin patch to grab some pumpkins and attempt to squeeze a few “fall” things into our week before he heads to Texas. Here we are.
Picked out a few small babies and headed out. Lots of families doing evening photoshoots.
Craving buffalo wings, I’m sick.
Zach swears he has a copy of Hocus Pocus but DOES HE
A nice healthy return to Los Angeles…hah, cajun wings on the left and buffalo wings on the right.
Fell asleep on the couch around 9pm while watching Hocus Pocus, woke up around 10:30 and went to bed. Of course then fell asleep till around 2:30am and couldn’t go back to sleep around 4:30. The jetlag is real.
Such a turtle. I need a new gym bag that isn’t ripping apart.
Got home and had myself a little snack of leftover wings before heading out to the metro.
Beautiful sunset again, this time viewed from the metro station
A welcome back Clippers game. The Jazz are in town (somehow Zach grew up a Utah Jazz fan haha) so we got some tickets the first night that the Dodgers were playing in the World Series so nobody was really there.
Have to get nachos with extra jalapenos
Got home, not tired at *all* so we decided to carve the pumpkins.
Not creative so of course I do another Tweedy and Sufi.
Another night of wrestless jetlag no sleep that a face mask couldn’t solve
Tired me couldn’t chose a better outfit so I failed already and went bck to repeats.
He brought me treats from Mexico City
Another day, another sunset at the Getty
Got my plants back from my kind neighbor who watched them but alas…the bamboo didn’t make it. I’m so sad!!!!
I set out the carved pumpkins (don’t worry, I turned them around so the neighborhood could enjoy the crafty work)
Tristan meets me at my apartment and we walk to get some dinner.
We got distracted at the grocery store and somehow came back with a little charcuterie board, a little overboard for a Wednesday night maybe?
We continued watching Game of Thrones from Season 2. I am the master guide as Tristan watches for the first time.
My skin is so confused from being in such a humid climate and coming back to such a dry one.
Gabby comes over and I share some leftover cheese with her.
She’s craving Thai food so we order some delivery.
Gabby appreciates the Mexican candies. When we were little she used to share her Pulparindo with me. ❤
Doing what we do best, chill with dogs.
A box from amazon arrives for me. That’s right…I ordered the cheapest bat costume I could find that had prime delivery. I was last minute invited to shoot some photos at a costume party on Saturday. Needed to be ready.
Friday. SUPER. Jetlagged again. STILL.
The sun is beating down already. Another day in the 90s.
Took casual Friday too far? Oh well. No meetings today!
Heated up some leftover soup in the afternoon.
Exhausted but happily eating Thai leftovers.
Tweedy chills on the couch as I continue to work from home.
Gabby invited me to stop by her work for a Halloween thing. She works not too far from me.
Decided to wear my Dobby ears from my zombie Dobby costume I made a few years ago.
They do an annual pumpkin race with decorated pumpkins on wheels. Of course this one is a watermelon so it was smashed and disqualified.
Child fairy dancing in the creepy red light.
Stopped back at Gabby’s house to see her new apartment and Russ. Then called a Lyft to meet up with Kiki and Tristan.
Friday night, not too busy at the bar. Just in time for happy hour.
Kiki and Ders pick me up and we head out for breakfast.
Spam and eggs place at Rutt’s Hawaiian Cafe
We strategize a Target run afterwards for some last minute costume things (and I needed some basic shopping done haha).
Was out in my neighborhood and casually saw a turtle wandering the street. I saw a woman run out looking for it too. (She found him!)
Dug out their old costumes from years previous. Why not start early. Sufi may or may not be humiliated.
Kiki and Ders came over to do last touches getting ready for the party.
There to shoot some school pictures and crowd shots.
Lurking above the party, a classic Waldo move.
The photobooth for school pics all set up with Kiki
A little sad to take out my little buns
Woke up with a hotdog next to me. Yes.
Spent the afternoon in bed, editing photos and being a slug. Some ramen on the stove to match the mood.
Editing. Photos. Doo teeeee dooo.
Went to take the dogs out for an evening walk and the whole neighborhood was so pink and magical from the sunset.
Sad to not be traveling and experiencing new things every day, but happy to be back with the dogs and seeing friends again.
Much love friends.
Hooray, a post!
I love how halloween is such a lovely, festive holiday in the States! Here it’s not lol…wish I could carve pumpkins someday. Love all the lighting in your photos, particularly how you capture sunlight. Also, those pink skies are so beautiful. The turtle is so delightful! Kiki’s costume does look very 2010, and you’re the cutest bat! I can’t do buns if my life depended on it 😦

The buns on my bat costume night were so lucky, I️ normally cannot get them even and usually they won’t stay up. It was a Halloween miracle for sure.
I️ wish I️ could send you a pumpkin to carve. It’d probably be all rotten by the time it arrived tho… 😦

There is nothing wrong with charcuterie on a Wednesday. Charcuterie is for any time.
