MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: AUGUST 14–20, 2017!
A week of too many fried chicken food items, friends, Alex comes to visit from Hawaii, the Orange County Zine Fest, hanging with my family, and eating a poke donut and boba from a bear.
Enjoy!
Woke up at 4am to catch our 6am flight out of Oakland back to Los Angeles after Outsidelands Music Festival weekend. I posted about that week here, and even a full documented day of the festival here.
Got back home by 7:45 AM—watched Game of Thrones, which was still amazing even in the bright light of morning.
See the recap we did at work here.
I was pooped at work and the grill special was a buffalo chicken sandwich. How could I not?
Discovering all kinds of new conference rooms.
Tired face, not looking my best but internally so excited cuz my evening class was cancelled.
Lazy and takeout Chinese all I could manage for dinner.
Fish in black bean sauce with a side of Tweedy
Some major backing up taking place
Working on my doggo collection
Peanut is over and treats are distributed
Well, well, well…what do we have here?
The taco one tastes exactly like a Taco Bell taco down to the lettuce.
Cleaned the house! Ready for Alex to arrive…
Picked up Kiki from her work for a lunch break brunch break.
My usual—spam and jack cheese scramble and hash browns.
Really wanted to go back to the Natural History Museum to see the mammals show…
Things were so much bigger before Ice Ages fucked stuff up
Whales just walked out of the ocean like this, right?
There were small mammoths on California’s islands!
Classic Natural History Museum
Hot wings, beer, and One Night Werewolf
Heading down the hill to get picked up for an off-site event
Giving a presentation at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley
Visited his Airforce One and then the jelly bean portrait and got the f out of there.
Wore my mourning outfit to the Reagan Library
Tristan has been talking about this 5 pound bag of chicken nuggets he’s had for weeks that we need to sure. Who is bigger? Tweedy or nugs?
Game of Sauces—a night of chicken nuggets and sauces to watch season 1 of Game of Thrones with Tristy
James got me hooked on this game called “Godus” where you sculpt land and give a better life to your little villagers. Obsessed.
After a week of nothing but fried chicken back to normie salads
But leftovers are leftovers…can’t be wasteful!
Editing some pics with Scandal
Heading to Orange County to pick up Alex
Walked over to see a Pacific Standard Time LA/LA show in the area.
Spoons with engraved quotes of activists who used hunger strikes for social good
All the ink of the treaties that purchased territories.
A small show, but happy we stopped by.
Walked to the Anaheim Packing District to get a coveted bear-boba drink. This place also does cotton candy on their drinks.
Quick drive over to Project Poke
Poke burrito, poke donut, and spam fries!!!!!! OMG.
Love my new pin acquisitions from OC Zine Fest
Scooped up the pups and then drove over to South pas to be with my parents.
Armon’s Restaurant in Eagle Rock for breakfast
What are these! Saw them at a pet shop
Managed to get Tubby a harness and leash
He’s still getting used to the harness and leash, but he craves so badly to go outside so my dad wanted to get him something so he could hang.
Gave my cousin a break and took the older two out to MUJI in Hollywood
Somebody learned to tie shoelaces
At Galco’s soda shop in Eagle Rock
Prepped all the veggies then cooked everything in one pan
What a busy weekend. The best!
Much love friends!
Love this post so much!!! As usual, every food post made me hungry haha.

The Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA show looks very powerful. Do you remember the name of the artists who did the spoon and ink pieces?
I feel like it’s become really trendy to add candy floss/cotton candy to things?! There’s a place in London called Milk Train which does ice cream sitting on candy floss.
That poke doughnut looks magnificent.
Awww is Tubby trying to return to his wildcat roots? I find it so funny how when cats are put in something they’re uncomfortable in they just crawl along the ground.

I believe both are by Reynier Leyva Novo, one called “Weight of the land” and other “SOUP (Survival Object Under Pressure).”
Another trend I’ve noticed here is all the glass mason jars and regular plastic boba cups have been replaced with novelty glasses—lightbulbs, baby bottles, cauldrons, etc.
