MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: MARCH 7 – 14, 2016!
Community service day at work and a four day adventure in Yosemite with some of my best friends. Includes a snow day, an “oopsies we got lost” experience, and a gorgeous (slightly strenuous) hike to see Upper Yosemite Falls.
Enjoooy!
Woke up on Monday morning to the sound of thunder and lighting. Tweedy was just staring at me, shivering (he’s freshly shaved). We snuggled and listened to the pouring rain….
Look how clear it is! I wish we had more rain, we’d have less smog.
Looking super sporty today with my hiking boots and volunteering outfit.
Got to my desk and found this poop emoji…no note from a mysterious sender…
Today is the annual Getty day of service. I was supposed to do the outdoor project but because of the rain that project was cancelled. So instead we jumped in to the indoor on-site project to make blankets for two local women’s shelters.
In an uber with a driver who has a coconut side hustle.
Film and a show at Cinefamily with Waxahatchee
Hiking shoes really controlling me
Real blurry my bad, but Kiki at happy hour
Never go to happy hour and then to REI.
Avocado icecream with frozen avocado chunks!!!
Zach brought me spicy garlic fries from a meeting but they were very cold…still ate them.
More food/snacks than clothing for Yosemite
Really need to fix that curtain rod
We arrived to our cabin in Yosemite West, then headed out for what we thought would be “an easy hike” around the Wawona Meadow.
Sticky mud we deemed “witch brew”
When the hike was still pleasant and we didn’t realize we weren’t lost
A little sweaty and happy to see a river
Yes…all the tiny orange piles are lady bugs
She’s so hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh, high above me
After the traumatic realization we weren’t on the trail we thought and were indeed very deep into the mountain trail…we decided we’d need to hike back out the same way because it got dark and scary…
The pasta Marie made and sent with us was a god send.
Everybody so happy to be alive. Watching Harry Potter, eating sour s’getti
Waiting for the others to wake up, enjoying some coffee and the view.
It was forecasted to snow….and indeed it started.
We watched the Revenant which was a good survival mode fodder
Just wandering around in the snow, throwin’ balls
Two snow angels making snow angels
A lovely winter wonderland walk through Yosemite West
After a day in the snow, time for some warm chili and baked potatoes
Good morning! A new day, a new environment
I was burned by some hot spam oil that shot at my neck the morning before…looks…eh…gross?
Another hike day! We are going into Yosemite Valley all day, so packing our lunches in the AM is keeey
Bringing an MRE to fulfill my dream of making one in the wild
So excited to be out on the road, we were worried we wouldn’t get to see the valley because of the weather.
Quick stop to remove the tire chains
You don’t even have to work for this view, you just drive through a tunnel toward the valley and BAM.
Sights and peeps as we drive to visitor center parking
We decided to do a quick stroll (an actual stroll) to see the lower falls, it was a paved trail with a bunch of cute dogs.
And now for the Upper Yosemite Falls trail, apparently only 3 miles round trip to the “Oh my gosh” look out point but over 60 switchbacks…
The views getting better and better as your legs get more and more tired
Crossing a river on a log, Aryn’s dream
We’re stupid and probably shouldn’t have brought sandwiches up to the top of the trail. There was a very territorial blue jay ready to bite Kiki’s head off.
We stopped at Columbia Rock so I could be a nerd and make my MRE in the wild
The way down, not much talking and shaky legs.
View from the morning but on our way out
Hot wings and Ghost Adventures
It’s already the last day!!! 😦
Last shot of the puzzle. We were unable to finish it…*defeat*
All packed up on our way out…but with our trash. Sorry Kiki.
Of course we returned to wifi and civilization to get Boiling Crab immediately
I have more from Yosemite on my other camera…been naughty updating ADIML posts and stuff. I’ll be better!
Much love friends.
