MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JULY 28 – AUGUST 3
An experimental video, life brings us back together in Orange, #steaknight and faux-sophistication, and super delicious shrimp tempura. This week had ups, and downs, but the through line was the lovely people I get to call friends. IT'S TRUE OKAY. Enjoy!
Trying something out with video, just cause! There were some sounds, sights and movement I thought would be fun to capture. I've been recording other little clips, will try to do little 30 second glimpses if they are fun to watch! Let me know your thoughts. Sorry if I'm like soooooooooooooooo boring and too self-absorbed (cause really??? A video about my week??!?!) I know I know. *Whew* *okay*
Sufi pretending to be a banana on Monday morning.
Monday night was just begging to be a semi-homemade pizza night.
Tweedy trying to get in on some salad
Baby sat the neighbor's children, had a mad-drawing and painting sesh with the 6-year-old neighbor's daughter in the middle of the kitchen floor.
The next morning the light was particularly blue and dramatic
My favorite soup at the Getty! Green chile pozole okay OKAY!
Nectarine from my farm box yum!
JAMES! Sleepin' over a few nights as he's between apartments.
And on my Wednesday off Yoko came to visit as well. My parents missed me, I guess, and they wanted to come to my neck of the woods for brunch.
George's! The best for breakfast near me.
It's currently owned by a Korean woman, which means there is a great diversity in what you can get for breakfast and lunch. I got chorizo, eggs, rice and tortillas.
My mom got a cheeseburger and fries, and my dad got a bulgogi platter.
My gorgeous tomatoes are almost done producing fruit! 😦
Blueberry face mask on my day off
Okay, this is my messy bedroom before I got a little crazy and moved stuff around by myself…
And after! I like it a LOT more. Something feels a lot cozier and comforting to me.
PLUS the dogs can do this now and it's adorable
Sweaty from moving stuff around. (Yeah, I stubbornly moved the whole dresser without taking clothes out of it or things off of the top)
I spent the rest of the afternoon babysitting for different neighbors. They have an adorable dog.
Got home, tried out some bake-able ribs and made a lil' salad
Kiki ate it and didn't die! (And it's picture worthy…kind of)
Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming…
Where are my arms? I got this dress at a Goodwill that I attempted to document the whole experience for the blog. It's not very interesting, actually…
Carrying dinner
Gorgeous dusk on the way to Pasadena
Here to see Stupid Fucking Bird! It's an adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull and is just so well-written, performed, tragic, happy, fucked up, fucking smart and just really attempting something new. I don't know much about theater, for sure. But I very much enjoyed the performed reoccurring themes of human relationships.
Blah blah Sarah
I get to work and they are hanging the employee art show up in our hallway
Scooterin' to my neighborhood's downtown area
Hey not bad! Had some dinner, had some beer (it was International Beer Day heyyyyyyyy)
And in the morning Tweedy FAILED at hiking.
Met up with a friend from college, and we couldn't even make it halfway up to Griffith Observatory…but it was quite cute to have the pups with us.
And of course had to reward ourselves with the Mitsuwa food court deliciousness.
Haven't been here since Aryn's graduation. Weird.
Actually went out to Paul's, a college bar near campus. *Flashbacks* But it was a refreshingly fun evening with people who I don't see too frequently. I really enjoyed their company, and just really felt loved and like I was just *being*.
Jill reacting to my *adorable* kitty phone case haha
The streets of Orange…YEAH it started RAINING. NUTS.
Weird that this place went from day-to-day nothing, to painfully nostalgic, to sadly tragic, and now to …well, I'm not sure. I know it's none of the previous.
So…Sunday morning, getting psyched for a "family dinner"
Bust out the patterns
And we went all out on some steaks, potatoes, and greens!
Good old fashion apartment cooking
Steak, roasted red potatoes (with rosemary from my herb garden!), and a kale/baby spinach salad. So lovely! Props to Kiki for being steakmaster.
And of course finishing the week and evening with a lil' game of Settlers.
Here's some bonus footage of the 4 of us on a rollercoaster from last week's time at Knott's Berry Farm. This was my favorite rollercoaster when I was growing up! And it feels even faster now. Sorry…if you have headphones in the screaming might be loud? *Warning!*
Much love friends.
