MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JANUARY 7–13, 2019! (PART 4)
Zach runs the Walt Disney World marathon! And then we treat ourselves to food and drinks from Epcot’s World Showcase.
Enjoy!
Part 1: HARRY POTTER WORLD
Part 2: HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS AND MAGIC KINGDOM
Part 3: ANIMAL KINGDOM
I got up and got dressed, Zach was already gone. His shuttle to the start of the race left at like 3:30 AM. I decided to walk over to the finish line instead of wait for a shuttle.
Got cut off from walking and was asked kindly by marathon staff to take the boat over to the back entrance of Epcot, then to walk through the park to the parking lot where the race was ending. Didn’t expect this, so was a bit worried I’d be late and miss Zach finishing!
Walked quickly with the flow of marathon runners past a bunch of the countries in the world showcase at Epcot. Tried not to look too carefully at all the details knowing we’d be back later on in the day.
Jasmine! She was available for pictures, but I think this far into the race the runners didn’t want to stop…
Finally at Mexico. I decided at this point to run over to the finish line, I was really worried I’d miss Zach crossing. So I ran!
I made it just in time! YAY CONGRATS, ZACH!!!!!!!!
Had to let him cross a few more areas for runners only.
Blue beer and a burger for Zach
So proud for him finishing. He’s been working so hard and training for a long time, it’s all over!
Shoutout to the other random runner who took these pics
A few hours later (plus a nap and hot shower for Zach) we were back in the parks. How Zach managed to walk? I am not sure…
Today is all about exploring the world showcase area of Epcot, tasting our way through each country, etc.
London! Popped into the Twinning’s Tea shop, and was tempted by a few treats from London. But I resisted!
Butchart Gardens, Victoria…gorgeous
Brief detour from the world showcase to ride a few rides. Was soooooo surprised to see Weebo at the Figment ride. My favorite character from Flubber.
Then we did the Living with the Land ride, where you take a little boat and go through the Epcot greenhouses, to see their experimental growing practices. They talk about sustainability and farming too.
Back out in the lobby of this weird building with the Living with the Land ride.
Back at the pub…needs his fluids…
The woman taking the picture is holding five medals, she must have done the three races plus the two challenges. Go gorl.
Into a HUGE shop with all kinds of Japanese products. I wanted everything.
Ended up with a plush and a bento box…could have been worse 🙂
Had a snack, the most red-colored spicy roll I’ve ever seen
Walked past the American pavilion, boring…next…
Past Italy and Germany, and Snow White. We explored these pavilions on our first day.
I was hoping they’d have Japan ears with the Epcot design, but alas…
Norway! We’ll be back to ride the Frozen ride later.
Past Mexico (we’ll be back) on our way to Mission Space. The ride is you launching in a rocket into space…it feels crazy! Later realized it is because you are spinning around and around and that’s what creates the pressure.
Back to Norway to try this troll drink (I forget the name, but I’m 80% sure it had “troll” in it).
Still had a little time to kill before our dinner reservation, so we sat through the history presentation in the American pavilion. A weird show! Def an abridged version of American history…that starts of course with the “discovery” of the New World. but it does have some weird animatronics which I will always find charming.
Into the Mexico pavilion. Loved this kid waiting with his parents at the margarita bar.
Avocado margarita! We took it to sit down with our dinner, and had a delicious meal inside of the Three Caballeros ride. Boats were floating past and we had a nice view of the water.
And that’s all folks! Finally, four posts later…the trip to Walt Disney World is complete. I never thought I would enjoy myself as much as I did on this trip. It was such a fun trip to just live out some childhood fantasy.
Thanks for reading!
Much love friends.
Lovely trip! Thank you for sharing all these photos, and congrats to Zac on his marathon completion!
