MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JULY 9–15, 2018!
Saying goodbye to two precious coworkers—one who I’ve carpooled with for a year and one who I’ve known for over four years! Dumplings with Kiki before an evening with my family and family friends at the Hollywood Bowl to see Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. We also leave for a week to visit Zach’s family in Switzerland!
Enjoy!
Hi! Happy Monday. Starting the week in my red pants with my big fat coroner’s office lunch bag.
Boss’s boss’s boss’s birthday surprise meeting. Cake at 10am, why not.
Grilled cheese and tomato basil soup
Waiting for the shuttle, watching the dead bougainvillea blow around.
A few weeks back Zach and I were at Disneyland and he saw a few people wearing the Pizza Planet shirt (the white one) SO being the swell person I try to be, I looked it up when I got home and found it! (available at HOT TOPIC of all places ahah) and secretly ordered it. The package arrived when I got home on Monday, I gave the shirt to Zach and SURPRISE ahah he had also ordered a Pizza Planet shirt (the red one). Nerd.
Ordered myself a cat bus shirt from Hot Topic as well. Couldn’t resist.
Taking my new thrifted pottery clothes for a spin at studio tonight.
Tuesday, scoping out the GettyGuide desk.
Woke up a bit early to paint some cards for two dear co-workers who are leaving the Getty.
It was my last morning carpooling with my carpool buddy. We were neighbors and turned out to work on the same floor too. We carpooled for a little over a year…sigh. I’ll miss her! We went to a bakery to treat ourselves to coffee and pastries our last ride together.
Miranda’s goodbye party at work!
Farewell happy hour at Plan Check together.
Disheveled bed, disheveled Sufi
Last day at work before my week vacation to Switzerland! Yay!
Spent the day in the galleries
Went to see a screening of a friend’s new animated short film, Life of Lamp! So cute.
Friday morning run, had no idea that this trail was totally dug up.
Beautiful day, finally not SO hot that we are dying.
Doggos and gecko go to my parent’s house.
Arrabiatta spaghetti with burrata on top.
Downtown for an amwa project meeting. Beautiful views of downtown from the rooftop parking lot.
Tiny eggs with keys for scale!
Saturday morning! Look at this cute angel with different colored eyes.
KIKI! MISSED HER. We had plans for breakfast but decided we both wanted Din Tai Fung instead of traditional diner brekkie.
Watching the dumpling masters create their pieces
Supporting Kiki while she bought new running shoes.
Later in the afternoon a target run with Zeen before heading over to the Hollywood Bowl for the annual picnic.
Lumpia and shumai and MORE why didn’t I take more food pics.
Zach and I played a game of Jaipur off to the side while everybody socialized.
Christopher Cross, Kenny Loggins, and Michael McDonald, my mom was JAMMING out hard.
Important last meal before leaving town.

I normally pick questions from a real livejournal survey archive, but since I’m leaving for a trip, I thought I’d write some that are travel themed. Answer if you’d like:
- Where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited?
- Where do you want to visit on your next trip if budget and time was no limit?
- What is one thing you always pack no matter the destination?
- Do you plan all the things you want to do in advance or just see what you want to do when you arrive somewhere?
__
- Where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited?
London, I lived there for about 9 months combined in 2011/2012, and for me nothing beats getting to live in a city for a while, getting to know it, making friends, and feeling like you have your own thing going even if for less than a year… - Where do you want to visit on your next trip if budget and time was no limit?
I’m hoping to visit Mexico soon! Or somewhere in South American! I haven’t been to South America before. - What is one thing you always pack no matter the destination?
My retainer! I can’t sleep without it. (Also a camera!) - Do you plan all the things you want to do in advance or just see what you want to do when you arrive somewhere?
I like to know my options in advance, but I don’t mind wandering around, hearing tips from people I meet along the way, and leaving open time to just do whatever. So I guess a mix of both!

I’m currently in Switzerland! If you’d like, follow my Instagram @sleepywaldo, I’ll probably post a few things during the week while I’m there! Have a great week!
Much love friends.
That life of lamp poster is so cute! Sorry for your coworkers leaving – that’s never easy for me to handle, especially when I really like them! I hope you have fun in Switzerland, I’m really looking forward to seeing your pics!
Where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited?
This is actually really tough, and I didn’t expect it to be! I’ve been so lucky to be able to travel a decent amount. It’s kind of hard to separate a location from the trip itself, if that makes sense? Like I’ve had amazing trips but the location maybe wasn’t the most amazing, and vice versa. But, long story short, I think I would say Sydney!
Where do you want to visit on your next trip if budget and time was no limit?
Ha, Sydney. My brother and sister in law live there for now, and I’d love to go there with my bf (I traveled with my parents last time). Definitely the budget part is hard for that one.
What is one thing you always pack no matter the destination?
My aveeno face lotion. And converse.
Do you plan all the things you want to do in advance or just see what you want to do when you arrive somewhere?
I’m a planner for sure. I’ll leave restaurants up in the air, but for major plans I always like to have them scoped out ahead of time.

Paris!
Where do you want to visit on your next trip if budget and time was no limit?
Japan, for sure.
What is one thing you always pack no matter the destination?
Honestly? Excessive amounts of socks and underwear.
Do you plan all the things you want to do in advance or just see what you want to do when you arrive somewhere?
Hmmm well for the last few trips it was more that I knew everywhere I wanted to go and all the things I wanted to do. I divided them up on what days I thought would be good to do them on (trying to group things that are closest together). But, if it didn’t work that day, I just moved it to another. I mostly plan but stay flexible – sometimes there’s things you want to do that you didn’t know you wanted to do!

Iceland. I have never been to a more amazing place and I miss it everyday.
Where do you want to visit on your next trip if budget and time was no limit?
I would love to do a three month or more tour of Europe.
What is one thing you always pack no matter the destination?
My Kindle and a cheap pair of sunglasses.
Do you plan all the things you want to do in advance or just see what you want to do when you arrive somewhere?
I’m a slight planner: I plan one or two things I really want to do, and I always get reservations at restaurants in large cities, but otherwise, no.
