MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: JUNE 4–10, 2018! (MOVIE NIGHT, LA PRIDE, AND DOGGIE BEACH)
Battling a cough while mistreating my body by eating out, trying sake flights, watching a rooftop screening of Ghostbusters, and attending LA Pride. Plus, a day spent at the dog beach with Tweedy and Sufi.
Enjoy!
Monday *dramatic* illustrative photo. Cough levels have peaked, I have no voice and a sore throat so I stayed home from work to rest.
It feels like I’ve been doing this puzzle for years. It’s harder than it looks because all the pieces are so abstract looking up close because of the sketchy style.
Zach decided to take on some fajitas-making for dinner
Uh…that might be too much onion.
Marinating the chicken and steak
Zach cooked, I sliced. Fair is fair.
SO MUCH! Happy to have leftovers all week.
Continued work on my puzzle and had some tea.
On Tuesday evening, I already had the plan to visit Sake Dojo and take some new photos for their Instagram to help out Jill. I might have coughed all over the food (sorry, friends) but it was worth going out because everything was SO delicious.
Oysters! (I think they were called “Fat Bastard” oysters)
Miso ribs and sweet potato fries
Black cod, mmmm. Drooling revisiting these photos.
After a lecture from friends about ignoring my cough and avoiding the doctor (I swear, I did try to find an urgent care online but my insurance is truly terrible), I ended up with a last minute appointment at my doctor’s thankfully it worked out.
Doctor thinks most likely is a viral infection, perhaps made worse because I have asthma. All-in-all, I will survive, but thankfully got some cough medicine to it easier to sleep.
Wednesday evening—Zach had tickets to an outdoor movie screening on a rooftop in downtown.
The slow drive through downtown
Guisados: fish taco, chorizo, and cochinita pibil mmmmmm
Made it to the rooftop a bit early.
Zeen in his element—watching a movie, having an old fashioned and eating popcorn. Wow.
Thursday, working from home today.
Was looking all over for Sufi but realizing he found his way behind the curtain.
Friday, wearing my new favorite Gudetama socks
Saturday afternoon, ready for Pride LA with a Claritin in hand. I love to be known as a person who always has bunch of Claritins because I’ve been asked on more than one occasion if I could bring one to somebody.
Tristan grilled up some burgers and hotdogs!
Kim Petras before all the technical failings.
Blurry photo right after we saw a literal fight. The sound was all messed up at the stage we wanted to see, so we left a bit early and wandered around before heading home.
Tweedy was adopted off a beach, but Sufi is the real beach lover.
Trying out this recent umbrella purchase. What a good idea! I’ve never had a beach umbrella before…and…it does truly make the beach more enjoyable because you don’t get so hot that you want to leave immediately.
Before I decided to take each dog into the water individually
Tweedy to the water first…he was not a fan. The waters were pretty big though, so maybe he was scared.
Then it was Sufi’s turn. He was cute trying to swim around, but overall the waves were too intense I think.
KILLING ME HOW CUTE THEY ARE ALL BUNDLED UP TOGETHER
Meanwhile under the umbrella, a casual game of Jaipur
After 5 1/2 hours of reading, hanging with the dogs, and enjoying the beach it was time to pack up and head out.
A few quick photos of the view
After the dogs were washed and dried, we decided to get some dinner.
A feast of pork tips, brisket, and the most delicious sausage.

Ready for some invasive, random questions? (Inspired by the nostalgia of Livejournal surveys, I borrow these from ohd-surveys on Livejournal from 2010). Answer if you’d like:
- What do you get complimented on the most?
- What is your favorite condiment?
- Where was the last place you went on vacation?
- What was the last thing you printed? Is there even ink in your printer?
- What was your favorite childhood playground game?
__
- What do you get complimented on the most?
Recently, it’s been my socks or shoes at work. I guess that’s nice of folks to notice. - What is your favorite condiment?
Ranch dressing. Is ranch dressing popular where you live? I watched a YouTube video of a girl from Singapore who was saying ranch was kind of weird for her, especially to eat with pizza or chicken. But that’s my favorite! - Where was the last place you went on vacation?
San Francisco/Oakland - What was the last thing you printed? Is there even ink in your printer?
Free tickets to be an audience member at a Family Feud taping. There’s ink in the printer, but it’s rarely used. - What was your favorite childhood playground game?
Lava monster on playground equipment, capture the flag, and make-believe.

Much love friends.
The dogs at the dog beach are too cute! That pic of them bundled up together is too much!
What do you get complimented on the most?
Hm. I’m not sure honestly – probably my clothes or hair?
What is your favorite condiment?
Ranch!!! I’m from the Midwest, so ranch is king.
Where was the last place you went on vacation?
Last true vacation was to Greece (Athens and Santorini) in April; I traveled to Portland for work in May.
What was the last thing you printed? Is there even ink in your printer?
I don’t have a printer at home, but the last thing I printed at work (that wasn’t work-related) was a test print of the program booklet I made for my grandma’s memorial service (which printed perfectly, much to my surprise).
What was your favorite childhood playground game?
Wow this is going to be really dorky, but I loved playing horses. Literally just running around pretending to be a horse. When I got a bit older and that wasn’t acceptable, a good old fashioned game of lava was my favorite (where the ground is lava, someone is “it” and tries to tag you).

That beach dog park is amazing. Looks so fun!
I LOVE lists from the livejournal days. Or back in my days it was an email that you sent to all your friends.
What do you get complimented on the most?
ummmm..the last compliment i got was on my jeans. but i’m not often complimented on my style because i don’t try very hard at it.
What is your favorite condiment?
aioli sauce for fry dipping. or yum yum sauce.
Where was the last place you went on vacation?
I was just in LA a week ago. I won a sweepstakes and got to visit the set of The Good Place and hang out with Kristen Bell. It was the most amazing insane thing I’ve gotten to do. I ate lunch in her trailer and she gave me a ride back to my hotel. WTF. She’s the nicest most generous person.
What was the last thing you printed? Is there even ink in your printer?
i don’t own a printer. i think the last thing i printed at work were Caroline Smith tickets.
What was your favorite childhood playground game?
Tag! I just went to an improv camp for adults and we spent about an hour playing tag and OMG i love it so much.

Oooh aioli. I also love mayo, that’s a close second to ranch for me.
That’s SO cool that you were in LA to hang with Kristen Bell. Did you talk about sloths? 🙂

No sloth talk, sadly. I was a bit star struck and all thoughts went out of my head for the day. Plus, i discovered it feels weird to bring up things you know about someone you’ve never met!

I was literally just at this dog beach yesterday. It was my pup’s first ocean ~experience~. She was not the biggest fan, but she put up with it!
What do you get complimented on the most?
Mostly that my dog is cute. Or like saying something I’m wearing is funny (like if there are animals on it). I don’t always know if it’s a compliment but it’s all good.
What is your favorite condiment?
Mustard.
Where was the last place you went on vacation?
Morro Bay
What was the last thing you printed? Is there even ink in your printer?
Umm, probably some official document for work. I have to print more often than I’d like honestly.
What was your favorite childhood playground game?
Cops and Robbers or Capture the Flag. They’re kind of similar.

I wish my dogs were water-loving dogs. They also mostly tolerated it, but didn’t quite enjoy the water as much as I wish they would!

Yay! 😀
I like my face (most of the time), but with bangs I feel the most like myself if you know what I mean.
