MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: DECEMBER 4–10, 2017!
A week keeping up with the Skirball Fire (all fine, just had to stay home a few days to wait for the all clear from the fire department), seeing a Conan taping, finishing my wood puzzle, trying a new hot pot place, and early celebrations for Zach’s birthday.
Enjoy!
Good morning, Monday in the neighborhood.
Jurassic Park view and brainstorm with Tristan.
Finally made a bit of progress on the puzzle.
Zeen the salmon king is masterchef tonight.
Me? Yeah, I’ll do a face mask and work on my puzzle.
I keep finding Sufi by this heater that has been broken for years. It doesn’t work, Suf. Sorry to report.
Tuesday advent calendar, a rice ball shaper!
From the other advent cal! Smells nice.
On the way into work noticed that the sky looked so brown and my carpool buddy and I were debating if it was smog or what. We rolled down the window and the car filled with the smell of smoke.
Light on the hill was a weird warm color as we sat in a plume of smoke from fires coming from the Creek Fire in Slymar.
Post-run face, dry and covered in scabs. Wahhh.
Looking a little dramatic at my desk.
The air was so bad downwind of the fires that they passed out masks for us. We could smell smoke inside the buildings, I can only imagine what it was like closer to the Creek Fire. Air quality was bad enough that HR allowed staff to take the rest of the day as sick time.
So! Home early…unfortunate circumstances.
Ordered a new kettle because my beloved thrifted orange kettle chipped and was getting scary inside. Sad to say bye to my orange kettle. But hello yellow kettle!
Really trying to be nice to my skin.
Tea and the windows closed, checking in with work but trying to just relax.
*Not doing drugs, just didn’t wash off all the face mask properly* The facemask is supposed to help with inflammation and redness, and maybe it’s the placebo effect but I think it is helping.
Cooking chili with the Keemi livestream in the background.
Was sitting at my kitchen table and heard all the reusable bags move around and noticed that for some reason Sufi decided to sit in the bags.
“Texas style” with fritos, jalapenos, and cilantros on top.
He was mid-Jazz game. Always rooting for the underdog, but at least now with chili in hand.
Woke up on Wednesday morning to a 6am call from my work’s emergency alert. A fire had started across the freeway from the Getty and it wasn’t safe to go into work. So…another day at home. But the videos are truly insane! Have you seen this one? That’s right across from my work.
Chili for early lunch leftovers and I finally finished the puzzle.
Later that night Tristan came over to cook and watch Game of Thrones.
Only one tiny sun spot on the couch so they both have to sit in it
Thursday—another day off work, the Skirball fires are still burning. Unfortunately a few homes burned down due to the Skirball fire (and so scary, the Ventura fire has claimed 1,000 homes).
In the afternoon, got word that the Skirball fire was nearly contained so we’d be going back into work on Friday. So, good news! Zach dragged me out to a Conan taping that he had tickets for.
😦 The hills where the Skirball Fires were burning the days before.
Parking, wearing my acropolis sweater.
Running pretty late, quick Conan head pic.
The show was great! We saw the episode with Andy Serkis and Patton Oswalt.
Bright shoes as we go back to work on Friday.
I guess I like this blue, accidentally merged with my carpet.
Loving my shoe sock combo a little too much
Los Angeles! Sigh. Still unfortunately burning. How you can help fire victims in Southern California.
Took this photo in the morning
And a few hours later another little fire had broken out in El Sereno causing smoke to drift across the city.
Trying out a new hotpot place on the Westside, excited to have some hot soup on a semi-chilly evening.
My cheeks are really bad again (is it the bad air?) but look how cute Kiki is.
Zach’s birthday is on Dec. 12, so he had some friends meet us at Progress Brewing. Do you like my donut sculpture?
Friends and card games mmmm yes
Getting owned in Monopoly Deal
I had to head out early to get over to Gabby’s housewarming party

Bundled to head out to a photo freelance job in the morning on Sunday.
Done with the gig, inside a Starbucks bathroom hi

Joint birthday cake for Dan and Zach. Happy Birthday!!!!
Projector screening of Return of the Jedi. A good ending to the week.
Stay safe out there. Much love friends.
Happy birthday Z! Is he really 29? He looks 21 🙂
Glad everyone is safe from the fires. It was pretty scary to watch the news coverage.

The candles were a compromise because our friend Dan was turning 29 and Zach just turned 28, so there’s a tiny “8” candle in there hah.
Thank you!
