This is Saturday, May 6, 2017!

A day around Los Angeles—running errands, thrifting, and prepping and grilling Korean BBQ at home.
Enjoy!

Before I even opened my eyes, I could feel Tweedy moving and stretching tucked under my legs.

I was going to go on a bike ride but it was looking gloomy outside. Checked the weather and indeed—chance of rain!

5-6-2017 Better sneak a walk before it rains. 5-6-2017

Puppers in the neighborhood. My eye bags are really out today.

5-6-2017 Sometimes it’s a struggle to find grain free treats that don’t have chicken and that aren’t totally out of their doggo comfort zone. Pumpkin is good. Once they had salmon. That was so stinky. 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Heehe. 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Glenn’s turn for some attention. Wanted to clean out his cage, it needed a spruce. 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 He’s been shedding his skin for like two months! 5-6-2017
We decide to finally try out my new grill that I got for my birthday. I looked up some recipes for marinades for meat so that we could do some simple Korean-style BBQ grilling at home.

5-6-2017 What. 5-6-2017
I had to manually go through a lot of my old livejournal posts that transferred to this site and name them, label them, and then adjust privacy settings. I didn’t really title or tag anything on my blog until about 2013 so that was a fun journey down memory lane.

5-6-2017 My expensive eczema-busting creams 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 Zeen loudly on the phone while heating up some leftover gyoza soup 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Figured I shouldn’t go to the market hungry because then we’d never leave. 5-6-2017
I’m a mess.

5-6-2017 Bust into my workroom, and my derpy little axolotl doodles are still out on the table. 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 It’s a low effort day ha. 5-6-2017
I wanted to stop by the thrift shop on the way to the korean market, Zeen kind to humor me.

I’m looking for a few dresses and shirts, things with nice feeling material.

5-6-2017 Weirdly found two of the same dress, but in different colors 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 I tried on so much, didn’t walk away with too many winners. But that’s typical. 5-6-2017
Just want to live in bags.

5-6-2017 Got a few things 🙂 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 So this is Galleria Market, like a Korean version of a Mitsuwa, shops, a food court, and then a big market. 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Decided to share some jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles with onions and chicken) 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Cleaned it up. 5-6-2017
Finally getting the groceries done.

5-6-2017 Look at all the bags of pre-peeled garlic. Heaven!!! 5-6-2017

Home!

5-6-2017 Tweedy hears the rustling of the bag and thinks it’s treats. 5-6-2017
Sorry to disappoint

A few of the wrinkly items I got from Goodwill earlier, I get everything out to sort to wash and prep for some…eh…stain removal hah.

5-6-2017 My baby!!!!!! So I’ve been mildly obsessed with KEEMI and I will say shamelessly that I wanted a grill because of all the foods she makes. 5-6-2017
Before I prepare food for later, I want to get the stains out of the two dresses I got from Goodwill.

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
It looks like both were worn by people wearing foundation who took the dress off and smeared foundation on the neckline. There was so some armpit staining…I’m not a germ-a-phobe so I got to scrubbing the dresses and letting them sit for a bit.

5-6-2017 I’ll let them sit for an hour or so, and then wash! 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Turn my focus to these goodies. 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
Not helpful!

5-6-2017 I made two different marinades, both from Maangchi’s blog. One for the beef with this recipe, and one for the pork with this recipe. 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 A mixture of onion, pear, ginger, garlic…I’ve never blended onion before! 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
Okay, beef done! I put it in the fridge to marinate.

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
I cut so much garlic. So. Much. Garlic. Happy. Me.

5-6-2017 Zeen *panics* because he’s in charge of making the mushroom and spinach “pockets” 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 I took a break to marinate my meats and worked more on the transfer process from the livejournal. 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 Check on Zeen, she’s still working on those pockets. 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 He’s got it handled. 5-6-2017
I got back to work more and SOMEBODY keeps HARASSING ME with SO many questions about the foil pockets ahah.

5-6-2017 Set up the table in the living room. 5-6-2017
Laundry continues.

5-6-2017 Then I work on prepping the veggies and stuff. 5-6-2017
Zeen is a hardcore Utah Jazz fan *lol* so he insisted on wearing his jersey while we grilled cuz the playoffs were on.

5-6-2017 Veggies! 5-6-2017
Made some rice

5-6-2017 Salt and sesame oil, kimchi, rice paper (which…I’m not sure if I was supposed to boil or cook or steam or do something with? We had it straight from the package, there was no warning indicator hah. Help if you know!) and also made some ssamjang dipping sauce. 5-6-2017
*Whew* So much prep work. Treating myself to a beer.

5-6-2017 Okay! The table is set! Just waiting for Anders to arrive. When I got back from the store I looked at everything we bought and thought…we need to feed more people. Stat. 5-6-2017
My first attempt at homemade Korean-style BBQ. I probably did a few things wrong, so let me know your favorite grilling tips and tricks.

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
The grill worked!!! So happy.

5-6-2017 We had the ribs and pork, I think I liked the pork better. I picked up the wrong shaped/cut ribs at the store, they were too thick I think. 5-6-2017
Perilla leaf with the spicy pork, ssamjang, pepper, garlic…mmmmm.

5-6-2017 With the leftover rice we attempted a kimchi fried rice with all the pork juice on the grill. It was an okay fried rice. I’ll get better! 5-6-2017
*Food coma*

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
Getting dark outside

5-6-2017 5-6-2017
Drying things

5-6-2017 Hang drying in the hallway 5-6-2017
The worst part…cleaning!

5-6-2017 Put away some leftovers (we’ll grill the next day) and cleared the table. 5-6-2017
Anders brought some beer

5-6-2017 Jazz didn’t win that game SORRY ZEEN but ultiamtely they won the playoff round. 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 Who doesn’t love some Jeopardy 5-6-2017
5-6-2017 Everybody so full they can only lay horizontal ahaha. 5-6-2017
Good out of focus photo

5-6-2017 *Tired* 5-6-2017

5-6-2017 My hair was in a bun so now I get big hair, perfect for big dreams. 5-6-2017
Early night. Too much BBQ…

Much love friends.

  1. Hi Sarah! The new blog looks great! Been a long time follower since like… 2007? That’s 10 years ago! So glad that you’re still blogging!

  2. Your pics have always been good but lately they’ve been extra, extra good! Did you change your editing process? Would love to see a tutorial! Also, did the stain removal process work? Thx 😬

    1. Thank you! Too kind. I haven’t really changed my editing process—the ADIML pics are taken on a nicer camera than my weekly photos, maybe they just look a bit sharper? Dunno! I’m happy to post how I edit a photo—I don’t really do anything too fancy though. 🙂

  3. My cousin (who’s 3 heh) has the same Old Navy dress! I never knew they made it for adults, too! need to find one for myself!

The rice paper, if I’m not mistaken, you need to steam or soak in warm water!

    1. When I wear the dress I get a strong toddler vibe and I’m weird that I don’t mind it haha.

And yeah—online it says to soak/steam but I failed to do that and ate it “raw” oops. Next time!
